I lay in bed that evening, staring up at the ceiling.
I could hear Aubrey somewhere inside the house, screaming at someone over the phone or something.
But that evening, my thoughts were loud enough to block that out.
My mind was racing and I couldn't stop thinking about Luke.
His beautiful blond hair, his nose which I loved so much, his delicate, soft lips, his skinny, long legs and his mesmerizing smile which made me fall for him every time.
I tossed and turned in my bed as I realized that I'd finally found someone who I could be myself around. Someone that didn't judge my every move or mistake I make. Someone that made me laugh or smile even when I was having the worst day. Someone that saw beyond my past horrible thoughts or my crazy family. Someone that just took me for who I was and who I truly wanted to be.
I thought back to that first day, which felt like ages ago, and realized that I was glad it was Luke who had come up to me. I was thankful that it was no one else but him.
Now, looking over to the windowsill where Luke had told me my story of cherry blossoms, I missed him. Even though I had literally seen him a few hours ago.
I wondered what he was doing.
Was he sleeping?
Was he thinking about me as well?
Or maybe he could even be pooping?
I giggled in the darkness at the thought.
And just like that, I slept with the thought of Luke on my mind.
-
My phone buzzed next to me, waking me up.
I sprung up groggily, and squinted at my phone.
It was Luke calling which I thought was really strange.
Nevertheless, my heart flipped as I pressed the green button to answer my phone.
"Hello?" I asked.
"Are you awake?"
I laughed heartily, leaning back onto my pillow.
"If I wasn't awake, then how could I possibly be speaking to you dumbass?"
He chucked, and I could tell that he was rolling his eyes.
"I meant: did I wake you?"
"No." I lied, not wanting him to feel bad.
"Good." He told me, letting us fall into silence.
"Luke?" I whispered, after a few moments. "Why did you call me?"
"Oh yeah." He laughed. "I just uh wanted to hear your voice."
"Oh." I giggled, feeling my cheeks go red. "Really?"
"I mean, it's true and I said it because it sounds super romantic but I actually wanted to ask you something."
"Oh ok go ahead."
"Would you mind meeting me tonight at the school football pitch?"
His question caught me of guard and I just laughed.
"Why?"
"You'll see."
"But...the school is closed Luke."
"Just meet me outside the school at 8? I know a way in."
"Ok then." I told him, looking over at the clock on my wall. It was 9am. What was I mean to do for 11 hours?
