the bite

it was a day like any other day, May got up out of her pink bed and walked over to her closet and pulled out a black long sleeved t-shirt and pink skirt as well as a pair black knee high boots. as she was putting on her outfit for the day she thought to herself, "what could go wrong." once ready she walked down the hall to the kitchen. "morning May you breakfast is on the table" her mom said smiling. "thanks mom," May replied as she walked to the table. "remember you have your internship at Oscorp today." her mom said before sitting next to her and joining May for breakfast. After they finished eating they exited the apartment and took the elevator to the ground floor and walked to their car.
They arrived outside of Oscorp, may walked into the main lobby and met with her friends that were doing an internship there. May and her friends were taken on tour of Oscorp. During the tour may noticed some scientists enter a room that was closed off from the public. May broke off from the group and followed the scientists. In the room May noticed that she was surrounded by hundreds of genetically modified hybrid spiders. As she was admiring the arachnids one climbed down and bit her on the back of her neck. She pulls the spider off her neck an drops it on the floor. May then quickly makes her way back to the tour group. And with that the first day of the internship was over.
May's mother was working late at the hospital so she had to walk home. May didn't have a problem with walking home as her apartment was only a few block away from Oscorp.
May put her earphones in her ears, put some music on and started walking.
May was halfway home when she saw a man running out of a convenient store with a large bag of cash over his shoulder. May saw this, her instincts kicked in and before she could think she was sprinting at full speed after the thief. May eventually caught up with the man, as she reached out to grab him a white web like material shot out of her wrists and attached itself to the man, May noticed this and pulled on the string pulling the man to the floor dropping the bag of cash. May returned the money to the store it was taken from.
Not realising at the time but people were recording the whole take-down. May then ran home as quick as she could. May to so long recovering the stolen money it was now half past nine in the evening.
May walked through the front door "MOM!" She said startled "what are you doing here you don't finish for another three hours?" She said putting her stuff away. "I was and then I saw you on the news on one of the hospital TV's" her mom said with with a n expression on her face that could only mean one thing and that would be trouble before she continued to say "do not lie to me young lady, tell me the full truth." May looked at her mom dead in her eyes "would you believe me if I told you that I was bitten by a spider?" She said not expecting her mom to believe her. "Well if your not going to tell me the truth then... Your are grounded! I'll unground you when you tell me the truth" Her mom said. May walked to her room.
"Why am I being punished, I stopped a crime, I was a hero, this is so unfair!" May said punching her pillows. "Knock, Knock." mom said before she continued,"I'm sorry about how I acted earlier, you didn't deserve to be punished for helping people, so you are no longer grounded." May then changed out of her clothes and into her pj's then she went to bed.
The next morning, may went through her usual routine. She went to her closet and put on a pair of blue ripped jeans and a red crop-top and a pair of white converse shoes. She walked to the kitchen were there was a note on the table that read "may, I've been called into work early today so I can't take you to your internship so sorry. Love mom."
May checked the time on her phone, she was going to be late. She grabbed a breakfast bar and ran out of the door. May got to Oscorp with seconds to spare. "If everyone follow me I will show you were you will be working for the next week" the guide said before continuing to say "except for you miss Parker, Dr Osborn would like to see you in his office on the 70th floor." I walked o the elevator and pressed the button that said 70. The doors closed and the elevator was now moving upwards. Once arriving on the floor she walked to the end of the hallway and walked into the office labeled Osborn. "Welcome miss Parker, I've been needing to speak to you, I want to take you under my wing and intern you my self, so you won't just be working at Oscorp you'll be working with me." Dr Osborn said with a smile.
Hours passed, after Mays workday was up she started walking home, suddenly an ambulance and two cop cars rushed past. May followed them for a while before they stopped on the road of her apartment. May then saw a woman bleeding out on the road and instantly realised that it was her mother. "M-may... Listen to me... With great power must also come great responsibility and trust your heart." She said as she passed way. May grabbed her deceased mother's hand as she started crying. She then backed away as the EMT's took her mother's body.
