Carla offers to drive us home, but I tell her to stay with Harry so he isn't alone. She nods and walks back inside while Adam and I decide to walk back.
"I'm shitting my pants so hard right now." Adam says. "I don't wanna go to prison for murder, you know?"
I give his hand a squeeze. "Don't worry. It's Harry. He's our friend."
What a dumb lie. I'm freaking out, too.
"And we're the ones who are responsible for his cousin's death. He's known Noah for all his life. He has known me for three years and you? Since September. Do you really think he won't tell the police?"
Fuck. He's right. Noah was so much more important to Harry than the two of us.
"On top of that we don't know who else will find out. If Harry could figure it out it's only a matter of time until Noah's rest of the family does." He tells me.
"So we're basically two dead men walking?" I ask him.
"Yup. The calm before the storm." He confirms.
"Now you seem too relaxed." I point out.
He shrugs. "I'm fucking scared, but I knew what could happen."
"Should I talk to my lawyer?" I ask him unsure.
"I don't know. I've never been in this situation before." He tells me.
"Do you really think it's gonna end like that? Maybe Harry just keeps it to himself and no one will find out." I suggest.
"That's a nice thought, but kinda unrealistic." Adam says with a sigh.
"So? What are we gonna do with our last few hours or days as free men?" I ask him.
"Wanna hang out?" He asks. "We could get used to spending time together. If we're lucky we end up in the same prison and can be cell buddies." He jokes.
"So funny." I say and roll my eyes.
"Sammy. You got nothing to be scared of. I'm responsible. There's no way you'll face prison time." He assures me.
"I helped cover it up." I point out.
"Hell, then I say I forced you to." He says.
"What? No! That would only make it worse for you!" I blurt out.
"Who cares?" He asks me.
"I care! A week ago you said you'd blame me for his death and now you wanna blame everything on yourself?" I ask him.
"I don't want you to go to prison for something I did." He explains.
"And I don't want you to go to prison for something you did to save me!" I say angrily.
"Sammy. It's alright." He assures me. "It's okay. Let's make the most of the time we got left. Maybe everything will turn out just fine."
"You're saying that like you're gonna die." I point out and he just chuckles.
"Can we go to your place? We could watch titanic after all." He suggests.

Twenty minutes later we walk into my house.
"Oh, hi!" My dad greets us confused. "Who's your friend?"
I roll my eyes. It's not like he's seen Adam at least three or four times already. It's not like he knows Adam killed Noah.
"That's Adam. You know him." I say annoyed.
I can see his head trying to sort in the name in his memory. He gasps. "Right. Right." He says.
"Nice to see you again." Adam says awkwardly.
