"Silence means yes"
"What-" Karma hesitated. Before laughing "a-are you serious? No way! Just because I couldn't answer doesn't make you my type, and what makes you think I swing that way?!" Karma bellowed, causing the other boy to laugh at him, forcing Karma to go on a rant about how "--even if I was..what makes you think you're the kind of guy I'm into?"
"That's enough, it's ok" Gakushuu continued to laugh heartily, finding the red haired boy's flustered expression comedic. "I mean it, I have standards!" Karma continued, making Gakushuu laugh much harder now. "Alright! It's alright! Stop it! Hahahaha!"
"Don't laugh at me!"
"Why are you so defensive?"
"I ain't defensive!"
Pretty soon, they came upon the old man again.
He was struggling with pushing his cart, and it was obvious the sun's burning heat was tiring him faster. Gakushuu and Karma looked at each other, before coming to a mutual understanding. Gakushuu pulled over beside the man "Hey mister!" Karma greeted cheerfully. The old man threw him an annoyed look
"Hop in, we'll give you a ride" Karma offered. "You look tired, and you're so old too! What if you collapse in the middle of nowhere? there's not a soul in sight for another mile" the red haired boy told. Gakushuu felt like face palming at the disrespectful tone of his companion. "I bet before you could even reach wherever it is you're going-" Karma continued jovially
"Karma-" Gakushuu started
"Your chickens might already have become fried chicken" Karma went on. "Oh?!" The old man glared even more. Karma winced, and Gakushuu sighed. "Mister, I'm terribly sorry for my idiot friend's un-humorous words" he said respectfully.
"We just want to help, and to make up for annoying you about earlier" he added.
The old man still looked hesitant. Before looking at his heavy cart, full of cages of chickens and baskets of vegetables. He raised a brow at the two boys. "What about my cart?"
[10:00am]
Now Gakushuu had two passengers with him. An annoying red haired weirdo, and a grouchy old man.
The old man now sat on the passenger seat, while Karma sat in the back with the chickens. A makeshift face mask wrapped around his face made from a scarf Gakushuu lent to him, he complained earlier that he couldn't stand the smell of chickens.
The old man's little cart was tied to the roof of the car.
And before long, they had reached a town.
"So mister, uh-"
"Takeda"
The grouchy old man introduced. "Right. Um, Takeda-san, what do you plan to do with the chickens?" The blond young man attempted a conversation. "Do you run a restaurant?"
The old man remained silent.
"Are ya gonna chop them up and cook 'em for lunch?" Karma asked. Gakushuu scoffed "All ten?"
"You never know, he might have a big appetite"
"Or a big family" Gakushuu suggested looking at the old man. The old man snorted. "Family? Sure" he said. "It's for--CAAR!" he suddenly screamed pointing forward. Gakushuu returned his attention to the road and saw a big car heading their way, he slammed the breaks barely on time and spun the wheel in a panic
