Xiao didn't know how he felt about the situation. It was definitely very interesting after hearing his name being called from Lumine and then appearing to have it really be nothing. Was she gonna do that much? Like he can understand the calling when they needed a taste tester for Xiangling but this was a recurring thing of her just calling his name, he didn't know how he was gonna handle it. It was quite entertaining though.
There had been one time he had been munching on some almond tofu when traveler had called his name. He had quickly appeared to only find her asleep against a tree with no enemies around. That had been quite an interesting experience. He had not woken the traveler for he felt that she needed her rest. She did a lot of work. More than most travelers, and felt that she deserved her rest.
Even if she did say his name in her sleep on accident.
He appears at the front desk at Wangshu Inn. Usually what he did after returning from something important. He wasn't saying Lumine was important but she did help make sure the adepti didn't destroy Liyue.
He sighs leaning against the desk, Verr looking at him curiously.
"What were you summoned for this time Xiao?" She asks, looking at him.
"Her and Paimon were arguing and apparently she accidentally said my name," he says, closing his eyes and trying to get the thought of the traveler out of his head. He didn't need to worry about her right now. She was perfectly fine. He didn't even know why he had told her to call his name whenever she needed him. She was perfectly able to handle monsters and demons by herself, but the comfort of knowing she needed him sometimes. It was quite refreshing.
"Ah, so nothing too bad to worry about?" She would always ask, curious about what he was doing.
"No, nothing too bad. As usual. I just don't understand it with her and saying my name. She does this all the time," he says with a tch.
"What do you mean by that Xiao?" Verr asks, looking at him more curious now.
Xiao looks back at her, confused. He didn't really understand why she had been calling his name more often now. Usually it was because of something silly. There had only been once where he had actually had to help her within a fight. She had been swarmed by a hunch of hillitrolls.
Sometimes he did doubt how much power she held from that. He didn't understand how she could be so strong and yet so weak at the same time. It made almost zero sense to him. Absolutely zero sense.
"She will have these times where she will say my name, and then I'm there but she's not in danger! I don't understand it." He says with a growl, throwing his head back. He didn't understand how mortal's worked.
"So, she'll call your name and summon you? Do you think she does it on accident?" Verr questions moving some papers to a different section of the desk seeming to arrange them.
"Yes! She did it just now. Apparently her and Paimon got into it again and she said my name? Paimon said something but I don't understand what she means by it."
"What did Paimon say?"
"That Lumine likes me."
There would be silence making Xiao turn around and look at Verr. The female seemed to be deep in thought, her paperwork forgotten as she stood there in a pondering like position.
"What did Lumine say?" She asks, looking at Xiao still pondering.
"She said she likes me like a brother."
"Was she blushing?"
"Yes."
"Was she nervous?"
"Yes."
"She likes you more than her brother Xiao."
Xiao would stand there confused, thinking. More than a brother? That made no sense. Did she like him like a dad then? You liked your dad more than your brother right?
"What do you mean Verr?" He asked, looking at her starting to get frustrated at the conversation at hand. Verr would only sigh leaning forward on the desk to look at him.
"You know how mortal's work sometimes, right?"
"Sometimes, but I don't understand all your fancy coding shit," he grumbles, crossing his arms and looking away.
"Okay, coming from a girl perspective. Lumine likes you Xiao. Her face was red. She was nervous when she saw you. And she, by the sounds of it just didn't want to admit how she felt in front of Paimon. Xiao, she Loves you."
Xiao felt like he got hit in the chest. Love? He had hear about that funny emotion mortals got. Verr, from what she said, was in love. She was married to her husband. He saw them kiss every now and then. And she didn't do that with anyone else. No matter how handsome they looked. She didn't look at anyone else like she did her husband.
The more he thought about it, the more he thought of Lumine. Whenever they would be around people she would be straightforward with them. Sometimes laughing with them depending on who they were, but he never saw her look at them the way she looked at him. That small twinkle in her eyes when she looked at him. It somewhat made his heart race. He didn't know what it was though. And he didn't need to find out what it meant.
"That's absurd. She's a mortal. I'm an Adepti, we cannot love each other. There is no way." He would say with a huff.
Verr would only giggle behind the male making him get even more upset. He didn't know why but he felt warm from this conversation. It absolutely made no sense.
"Xiao, I don't think that is gonna get in the way of you two." Verr would continue on. "Just because your an immortal, and an Adeptis doesn't mean you're not human."
"But I'm not," he would argue. He wasn't human. Humans were mortal being that were born and died. They weren't used as killing machines. He had lived a completely different life than everyone around him. And he wasn't about to let Lumine see that side of him.
"Just get to the point Verr. What should I do?"
"What do you wanna do Xiao?"
"I don't know!" He says getting more upset and turning to look at her. "I don't know what to do. I don't understand your mortal emotions. I don't understand all these mortal games you play. I. Don't. Know."He would say his mind spinning. He felt the oh so familiar pressure coming onto him. The Karma. He would only gasp before disappearing and going to a more calm setting.
He couldn't think about Lumine right now. As much as he wanted to think about her, he couldn't. The pressure of everything coming down on him made it feel suffocating. He needed time to fight it off. He needed to get the memories under control. He needed to be him again/
