Is this ball thing every month even worth it? I mean seriously, I know it helps papa keep his popularity boosted but it's exhausting—I go out there, shake hundreds of hands and then it ends.

"Mama do I have to go out there tonight?" I ask as she focuses on tying up my dress.

"If you want to make your father happy Daisy, then yes." She lets out an annoyed sigh, pulling harder making me gasp for air.

I know I annoy her asking her the same thing every time but trust me it's beyond exhausting.

"Don't you just look lovely, my daughter is beyond gorgeous!" She says holding my shoulders as I look into the mirror regretting my whole existence. I hate this dress and the color is awful.

I let out a deep sigh hoping she will see how much I'm dreading this night and hopefully changes her mind.

It didn't work, what a shame.

"Anyone entertaining attending?" I ask as we walk down the stairs into the crowded room full of adults and tiny children running around.

"The Loughery family is coming, you haven't seen them since you were little, socialize with them tonight please." She then walks off to my father, taking his arm as they talk to the guest walking in.

"Daisy!" I'm taken into someone's arms, squeezing me tightly "Hello Mia" I greet her, kissing both her cheeks.

Mia is my childhood best friend since I was 5, her family moved right down the road from us when she was just 4 and our family's have been closer than ever since.

"Well don't you look amazing, orange looks so good on you"

She knows I hate orange, she believes she is the funniest person in the world. That's why she's laugh-ing like a horse right now.

"Well aren't you hilarious."

I glare at her as she continues to laugh, she expects me to laugh back but it will only boost her ego so I chose not to.

"Hey aren't those the Lougherys, thought they were gone for good." Our friend Darren points out as they're walking through the door greeting my parents.

"Yeah my mother was saying they were coming tonight."

I couldn't help but notice how handsome and tall Alexander had gotten. I remember him just being the short friend of the group that we always picked on for his height. But there he stood 6ft tall, brown curly hair, tan skin, hazel eyes—Why am I still going? Stop looking or he will notice and I don't feel like socializing with other people.

I turn my head away and look towards Mia who was also staring, I gently nudged her shoulder to get her attention, "Stop staring it's rude." She rolls her eyes, shaking her head jokingly.

"Look how pretty Anastasia is." Darren points out.

He was practically drooling! We all knew he had a massive childhood crush on her, he would do anything for her. He called himself her prince, would pour her tea at tea time every week. Sometimes he would even be her foot rest, he was in love. Although she never really liked him, she would always tell me that he had some weird obsession with her and I tried to best to convince her otherwise so she wouldn't hurt him.

"Why don't you go pour her a cup of tea." Mia jokes as she gestures pouring a tea cup.

He just sat there blushing, I knew he wanted to go up to her and hug her but it was obvious he was too scared.

"Darren go talk to her, she must have missed you." I tell him with a smile.

He nods, straightening out his suit. He then grabs two glasses of champagne heading his way over to her. Let's just hope he doesn't make a fool out of himself, poor guy couldn't even spit out any words after seeing her tonight.

"Daisy come here please." My father says, taking my hand and making me come over to where him and the Loughery family was.

Deep breathes girl.

I will admit I am extremely nervous to talk to Alexander again, I always had a sweet spot for him, he was always such a kind boy.

"Hello, very nice to see you all again." I hold up the sides of my dress lowering my knees and head to greet them.

"Hello Daisy, you look very beautiful tonight." I look up to see Alexander say with a sweet smile, I forgot how much I missed that smile, his perfect white teeth. I've never seen a more perfect smile than his. I blush at his kind compliment before continuing to greet them all.

"Oh dear, you have grown so much." Mother Loughery says before taking me into her arms, giving me a hug.

"Your daughter has grown into such a beautiful women." She says to my parents who are both holding each other, smiles on each of their faces. They're putting on a fake perfect relationship, everyone knows they're not perfect—but the Lougherys have been gone so long that they're unaware of their troubles.

"How have you been?" I ask Alexander as we walk towards the exit to go outside.

"I've actually been great, glad to be back. It was very cold where I was and I will not be complaining this summer about heat. Took that for granted."

I miss having his company, I was closer to him than anyone else. Usually when Mia and I would get into arguments he would always be there for me when Darren was there for her.

"That's good to hear but I will still be complaining about the heat here, how's your sister though?" I ask only because she wasn't there when I greeted them all.

"She's okay, she's in her rebellious era of her life but I'm here for her through all of it. My parents on he other hand have not been easy on her."

Maybe them being back will hopefully change that for her, a new start. I wouldn't want to see someone Ive known for so long go through so much in their life.

"And what about your rebellion era?" I ask.

He chuckles and gives me a smirk, "Oh you know getting drunk at the bar almost every night, finding new girls in my bed every morning."

I stop my feet, my eyes widened and my jaw dropped from all this information I had just gotten, didn't know he would ever do such.

"I'm just joking." He gives me a big smile before continuing to walk.

"What are you so shocked about? Me joking about getting drunk or sleeping with girls? Because I'll tell you right now, I cannot get a girl." He says turning around to look at me.

I don't believe that at all. He's so handsome, he could get any girl he dreamed of.

"Oh shush it, you aren't funny. You actually worried me!"

I gently push him away from me, rolling my eyes as he throws his head back chuckling.

Not long after we're joined by the rest of the group, Darren brining Anastasia. Looks like he was confident enough to keep her near him for this long.

I rush to give her a hug, telling her how much I missed her and then that hug quickly became a big group hug.

"Whose elbow is jabbing me!" Mia cry's out with a groan.

"Thats what you get for ruining this two person hug." Anastasia says as we all pull away.

I'm so happy that we're all together again, it's like we're little again. But I'm happy we're older now because we can do more and we have more freedom.

I look over at Alexander who is looking back at me with a smile. He's gonna have me obsessing over him in no time and oddly I'm not complaining.
