"Rose?"

Dark violet eyes looked up to the entrance of her respite block, wondering how the human had managed to find her way up through the maze that her lusus had set up.

"Hello dear. What brings you here this," The girl glanced towards her sealed-shut window, wondering what time it was, "lovely evening."

"I was wondering if I could, perhaps, continue reading your story. I didn't really get to finish it after what... happened."

The human's pale skin flushed red and the troll smirked at her.

"Of course. Be my guest, darling." Slowly Kanaya made her way towards the laptop sitting on Rose's desk before opening it and hesitantly sitting to read the story. The room was dead silent and Kanaya could practically feel Rose's eyes burning into her skin but she refused to turn around, even as she read through the words of the currently opened document over and over again.

Dearest Kanaya, I believe it has been clear for quite some time that we are flushed for each other. While I know you are not completely comfortable with quadrants, and I am not entirely comfortable with your human romance, I would be willing to put aside my discomfort in order to be your, um... girlfriend, provided you be my matesprite.

                                                                                           Sincerely, Rose Lalonde

"O-oh." Kanaya stuttered, her face turning a deeper shade of red.

"Rose I-"

"You don't have to, if you don't want. I was just hoping that perhaps it would work and it's not as though any of my other quadrants are filled so it would really just be us but if that makes you uncomfortable we don't have actually commit to anything if you—"

Kanaya looked towards Rose and the violet blooded troll stopped in her tracks, shutting her mouth firmly. Kanaya smiled softly, trying not to laugh. Rose's eyes were wide and she seemed to be shaking, so different from the overly confidant troll that Kanaya knew. The girl relished the change that made her, for once, the more collected person in the room.

Slowly she pushed up from the desk and turned, taking quick steps towards Rose. She sat down lightly on the bed beside her and kissed Rose gently on the cheek, smiling at the violet flush that spread across her face.

"I would love to be your matesprite."
