Be quiet

The heavy steps of the enforcers ring behind us. I glance back and dread fills my body as I see one of them getting closer every turn. We're never going to outrun them; they are too fast.

"Through here!" Vi shouts back to me.

Adrenaline pumps through my veins as I follow Vi through the dark streets of the undercity, her pink hair like a beacon in the dark.

We turn one more corner and Vi stops so abruptly that I slam into her, tripping in the process.

"Shit-" I blurt out. She grabs my shoulders gently and stables me, we lock eyes for a quick second that might as well have been an eternity, then she looks away and whispers "Lets hide here, hurry,"

I try to ignore the fluttering sensation in my stomach but it's hard when I can still feel the way Vi's hands felt on my shoulder.

We enter an abandoned building; I look around at the broken windows and floors covered with a thick layer of dust. There are a few graffities in the corner, but a thinner layer of dust also covers them. I conclude that nobody has stepped foot in this abandoned building in a while, at least three months.

Suddenly we hear someone running past the smashed window. Vi and I both fall to the floor away from the view of the window, she glances at me, a worried look on her face. I make my way closer to the window, I'm so tired from running, I need something to rest on. A sigh falls out of my mouth once I am sat back against the wall, right under the window.

Vi comes to sit on my right, next to the window. Another enforcer runs by and I can feel her shoulders tensing up against mine until the footsteps are so far away that we can barely hear them. It's Vi's turn to sigh.

"Sorry for bringing you into this shit," she says.

"You didn't bring me into this, Vi. I willingly came to you."

Vi gives me a grateful smile, a softness shines in her eyes that I have never seen before.

"I wa-"

Vi puts a hand over my mouth. My stomach flips at the sudden proximity. I give her a confusing look, but my eyes widen as I hear the loud voices of the enforcers.

"This is where I lost them, they must be hiding somewhere here!"

Vi doesn't takes her hand off my mouth as she straddles me to look out of the window.

I can't help feeling a wave of heat pooling in my lower stomach. The way Vi's thighs are brushing against both of my own makes my legs press together in an attempt to calm the heat there. All I can do is blink and stare in front of me, which just happens to be Vi's muscular abdomen.

Footsteps get further away and Vi looks down at me, a blush covers her cheeks once she fully realizes our position.

She clears her throat and pulls her hand away.

"Sorry...I -uh. They're gone now, we can go," Vi stands up and dusts herself off.

"Cool, help me up?" I say, I'm slightly amused by how flustered is, but the blush on my cheeks also betrays how I feel.

Vi holds the hand I'm extending and pulls me up, I guess I'm lighter than she expected because when I stand up I half fall, half trip into Vi's arms. Again.

We both laugh softly, and I look at her, suddenly realizing how close we are. Our bodies are so close that I can feel Vi's breasts flushed against my own. I can see her dark lashes and the greyish blue of her almond-shaped eyes.

Something tells me that I should move away, step back. However, my legs do not move and instead, I place my hand on Vi's waist, my other hand is still locked with hers.
