Chapter 1: Investigate
“The serial killer, also known as the night stalker, is still walking free around Seoul after killing another woman victim in Jongno Street. The chief of the national police, Kim Namjoon, stated that the police and detectives are doing their best to catch the infamous serial killer.
Fortunately, he also added that they found evidence against the killer such as a hair sample, and it is currently going through a DNA check to see if they will find the serial killer's identity.”
The voice of the news reporter of KBS news was heard in the detective station. While the detectives watching the news where Namjoon appeared on the screen.
“I can't believe this serial killer is so genius that we still can't catch him, even though there is plenty of evidence against him.” Mingsoo said.
He's one of the detectives and colleagues of Taehyung.
“He's surely watching and laughing at us right now. How about you, Taehyung? Did you find any connection of this case to those people you interrogated with?” Namsuk inquired Taehyung.
“No, apparently, they all have a strong alibi to prove their innocence.” Taehyung sighed, shaking his head.
“Maybe you should stop focusing on them, seriously, Taehyung, you are trying to drag powerful people in this case.” Mingsoo warned him.
“So what if they are powerful? That doesn't exempt them from being a criminal.” Taehyung retorted.
“Everyone, eyes on me!”
The police captain, Eunsuk spoke to get their attention. They stood up and salute him to show their respect for him.
“We have a new intern here, he's Choi Jihoon from Daegu district, and he will be part of your team, Taehyung. Did you understand?” Eunsuk told them and looked at Taehyung.
“Sir yes, sir” Taehyung responded and bowed his head.
“Good, go back to your work.” Eunsuk then leaves them.
Taehyung walks in front of Jihoon, his face is so serious, making Jihoon feel frightened.
“Follow me” He said in his deep voice and walked away.
Jihoon shivered after hearing his voice, he didn't expect it will be that deep. He shook his head and immediately followed Taehyung.
“Where are we going, sir?” Jihoon asked Taehyung when they were about to go inside the car.
“You will see” Taehyung simply replied and went inside the car.
Jihoon just followed him and Taehyung started to drive. They arrived at the Han River bridge, Jihoon was a bit confused about what they were doing in this place. The Han River is occupied because an actor is doing a scene and seemed to be a popular actor because fans are filling the area.
Taehyung went out of the car first, then followed by Jihoon. Jihoon's eyes widened when he saw the famous actor Kim Seokjin on the set doing an action scene for his upcoming new action drama. He's a big fan of Jin and seeing him near is such an overwhelming feeling.
“Okay, cut! That's good, you can take a rest, Jin. We will continue to the next scene.” The director spoke after Jin successfully shot his enemy.
Jin's assistant went to Jin and wipe off his sweat. He smiled at his fans and gave them a finger heart.
“Hey, Detective Kim!”
Jin called Taehyung while walking near him. Jihoon's jaw dropped, seeing Jin right in front of him. He's so handsome and cool.
“What are you doing here? Are you going to investigate me? Am I involved in a case again?” Jin asked in a sweet yet teasing tone.
“Where are you last night at 11:15 pm?” Taehyung coldly asked him.
“I'm in a shooting that time, why did you ask? Don't tell me I'm the primary suspect. I don't kill innocent people.” Jin chuckled.
“Coming from a serial killer like you.” Taehyung retorted.
Jihoon's eyes widened when Jin suddenly pointed the gun that he used at the scene earlier at Taehyung's forehead, while Taehyung didn't even bother to move an inch.
“Hah, you are seriously the great detective I've ever seen. No wonder why you caught me that time. Anyway, it seems your partner is slow and a newbie. You should change your partner, Detective Kim. He will just be a burden to you if that kind of person is your partner.” Jin snickered, looking at Jihoon who didn't move or do anything to protect Taehyung.
“I don't need your opinion” Taehyung turned around and proceed to walk away.
“You are too cold, Detective Kim. By the way, I have proof that I'm in a shooting at that time. I can give it to you if you'd like.” Jin told him.
Taehyung didn't respond and kept walking away from him.
“What?” Jin glared at Jihoon who still didn't move from his place.
Jihoon came back to his senses and immediately followed Taehyung.
“You drive” Taehyung told him and went inside the car beside the driver's seat.
“Where, sir?” Jihoon asked while putting on his seatbelt.
“Avarice Enterprises” Taehyung replied.
“Isn't that the company owned by Mr. Jeon Jungkook, sir?” Jihoon inquired and started to drive the car.
“Yes” Taehyung shortly responded.
“What are we going to do in that place, sir?” Jihoon kept on asking because he was interested to know everything.
He is confused about why they were going to that company because he heard that place was filled with wealthy people and well-known employees.
“Jihoon, I know that you are a newbie, but do you mind if you shut up your mouth and stop asking me? I don't like annoying people, you are just giving me a headache.” Taehyung retorted and glared at him.
“I'm sorry, sir.” Jihoon apologized, and his lips went straight line.
Taehyung rolled his eyes and looked outside through the window. They arrived at the company, Taehyung left first and Jihoon felt nervous for some unbeknownst reason. He is just following Taehyung because he isn't familiar with this place.
“Oi, detective Kim!”
Jihoon's eyes widened when he saw who it was. He can't believe who he is seeing right now.
