-SEVEN-
Once Madison had taken a photograph, she hastily called 911, and fended the birds off with the rest of the family. She let Carlos lean on her completely as they took him hurriedly to the gurney, with the help of a few paramedics.
Katie sat beside her in the vehicle, looking worriedly at her father who had passed out in fear. Her hand instinctively went to Maddy's, who made sure no one was looking before pressing a quick kiss to the back of the brunette's hand. Rubbing reassuring circles on Katie's skin with her thumb, the blonde whispered, "He'll be okay."
"I hope so," sighed the girl, leaning her head on Maddy's shoulder.
They reached the hospital, they dashed after the gurney as it was wheeled to the emergency room, as the paramedic Jean said, "We need a doctor, stat! There's been a horrific bird attack!"
"What? Do I have rabies?" Carlos asked, eyes wide with fear.
"No, this hospital sucks, so I exaggerated a little to goose 'em," said the paramedic. Realising what she just said, she added, "No pun intended."
Seeing everyone's panicked faces, Allison said, "She's kidding. You're kidding, right?"
Unconvincingly, Jean shrugged, "Sure."
Noticing a room, Allison said, "Here's a waiting room," handing Ellie to Madison she added, "Katie, Maddy, you both are in charge."
"Okay," both girls said. Maddy kept Ellie safely on her hip, and stepped aside as Allison hurriedly said, "Everybody stay with them, so I can find you later."
She dashed off, and Nando watched as his father rounded the bend and went to the check-up room.
"Nando, come on buddy, you can sit down." Madison, caught him by the shoulder and steered him into the waiting room. Seeing Ellie was a little dazed at what happened, she fished around in her pockets to find a lollipop marked 'Sugar' in her slightly untidy cursive. She'd remembered that before leaving she packed sugary lollipops incase she needed a hit of adrenaline.
"Hey Ellie, here. I found a sugar lollipop," she smiled. The girl gasped and took the lollipop from her, saying 'thank you' in a loud voice as she sat with Nando, who was stressing out.
"Oh, I didn't get to ask you," said Katie, putting her left leg over Madison's right as she sat comfortably, "Be my girlfriend?"
Madison blushed and asked, "What, it wasn't obvious?"
"Just a formality," grinned the brunette, "You know, make it official and all that."
"Obviously yes, you idiot," chuckled the blonde. She made sure neither Nando nor Ellie was looking and kissed Katie's cheek, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close.
"Excuse me," said a nurse, "Are you the children of Carlos and Allison Torres?"
Madison let Katie stand and followed, saying, "Well, they are, I'm tagging along."
"Well, you guys can leave now," she smiled.
Madison noticed the small bisexual pride pin the woman had on her chest, and pointed at it, saying, "I like it."
The nurse laughed and pointed at the pin, "Oh, this?" Madison nodded and pointed at herself. "We do get the best of both worlds, don't we?" Laughed the nurse, taking off the pin. She handed it over to the blonde, who's eyes went wide.
"I can't possibly--" She gasped, fumbling over her words. "I just met you, I--"
"Oh honey, I've got plenty at home," grinned the nurse, noting something down on her clipboard. "You can have it. Plus," she glanced at Katie and back at Madison with a knowing grin, "I know you've got yourself something good going."
