It had been awhile since the archons had any sort of alarm to alert them of the time. But now, every morning you could hear the rushing of feet and cheers darting down the corridor. The archons begrudgingly got up. They followed the crowd to the lunch room. The mood was a shocking contrast to the truth that lay beneath the mask this place adorns and somehow maintains. The four archons were talking about the conversation last night. The three that had told them of such events seemed to keep a certain distance from each other. Not so much that its noticeable, but it was obvious any extensive contact was cut. They were even avoiding eye contact.
Soon everyone had finished their meal however everyone was instructed to remain in place. The caretaker then stood up and claimed she had an announcement to make.
"Everyone please calm down. I actually have a few announcements so please bear with me. First of all, we will be recieveing a new sister, she will be arriving tomorrow morning so I expect you all to be on your best behaviour for her. We also have a new one joining us soon at lunch time today. She is eight years old. And finally, I have caught news of two of you getting adopted. Ei and Venti you will be going to your new forever home in two weeks."
Cheers erupted and people started saying they were jealous. But everything around the archons was white noise. They didnt have powers. What were they supposed to do when they were faced with these 'demons' which had a high probability of being celestias goons.
"You are all dismissed. Please enjoy your day."
The archons made their way to their rooms. Nobody dared to say a word.
"I dont have enough wine to get through this..."
"We know Barbatos." Morax stated.
"Oh no, not Zhongli using formalitys in such a situation. We really are screwed now."
"We have another person arriving at lunch today. Although chances are low, this Alice you speak of could be behind it. Shes the reason we got here afterall." Nahida stated.
"Is that really all we can do? Wait it out?" Ei questiondd.
"As of right now... I am afraid so." Zhongli replied.
"I have been... Listening recently. We are mainly powerless yet we keep a very small semblance of our original power. It seems whatever suppressants are restraining us can only do so much. Our caretaker has an idea or two about somebody finding out the truth of this place. That's the reason we are having another caretaker. I havent been able to get much more than that as it hurts to use my power to such strength in our current predicament."
"Please do not worry Nahida. You have done more than any of us." Zhongli consoles, death glaring Venti.
"I didnt mean to break the device!" Venti defends, flopping back on his bed, knowing it was a losing battle.
So they waited three hours.
And once those three hours were up, they knew. It wasnt due to the amount of screaming, of course not! They were just very... Good at counting seconds. So they made their way down stairs to where all the ruckus was and people were throwing other people over each other in a very friendly manner.
And then the doorhandle clicked.
"Please all welcome our new family member, Klee."
Klee. Now thats a very rare name. But there can be more than one person in the world with that name. Venti remained rooted to his spot. He did not dare move to confirm or deny the accusations his mind was making. Alice wouldnt send her own kid, right? They were all busy fighting a war... Klee should be at the Golden Apple Archepeligo. She wouldnt be able to get here...
Soon everyone started to clear out. Oh how Venti wished not to see.
That was, no doubt, Klee.
"Mr. Tone-Deaf Bard!" She screamed cheerfully and ran up to hug him.
"Mr. Tone-Deaf Bard?" Ei questioned.
"This is," He sighed, "Alice's child, Klee." Oh how he wished those words were nothing but lies, yet they were true. Atleast, maybe, he can protect this one child of the wind if all else fails at home.
"We should return to our room and discuss matters further there." Nahida stated and they all made their way up the stairs.
Yet Ei and Zhongli did not miss the presence of three lurking in the corner of the room.
Question were bound to arise at some point.
