Angel's POV:Spencer and I walk across the street towards our house. "You think mama got a call?" I question and Spencer glances at me with a no shit look.
I nod, "yeah, I think so too." Crap! Mama's gonna whoop both of our asses where we're not gonna be able to sit down for awhile.
He unlocks the door and we walk in seeing mama perched up on the wall with an angered look. Spencer and I glance at each other with an uh oh expression.
"We can explain, mama," I start to say and set my bag down next to Spencer's but mama cut me off.
"You don't have to. Coach Baker and Coach Michaels already explained everything," she informs us gesturing to the side and we look seeing the two who stood up from the chairs.
"How are you doing, kids?" Coach Baker questions with a small smile and Coach Michaels nods at me.
What the hell? "How could you guys not tell me?" Mama spoke up again making me wince slightly .
"Mom," Spencer starts but gets cut off by her. Ooh she's mad mad.
"Don't 'Mom' me right now," she sternly tells us and I sigh slightly as I turn to look at the coaches.
"I asked for a day to talk to my family and you couldn't give me that? A day, man. One day," I exclaim holding up one finger.
"Angel, I was going to give you the time but Coach Baker told me he was gonna come talk to your mom so I thought it wouldn't hurt to give her more insight on the offer," Coach Michaels explains in a calming tone.
Spencer scoffs and moves around me. "So that's how it is? I say no, you just go around me?" He questions looking at Coach Baker who holds up his hand.
"Listen kids, we just wanted to help," Coach Baker says in a calming voice.
"We don't need help, man. We're happy where we're at," I respond getting a little defensive. We're not some charity case that need help.
"Happy? Is that right?" Mama draws our attention towards her and I gulp slightly at her look.
"You think I didn't hear about that shooting over at Crenshaw the other night? That I didn't get a call about your guys little fight?" She tells us raising an eyebrow.
I wince, aw crap she knows. Spencer drags me down on the couch. "You both have been in and out of trouble at that school for years. I'm a clerk down at the courthouse. I see this type of stuff all the time," she adds saying the last bit to the couches.
Mama's look softens as she gazes at us. "Good kids gone bad. Getting caught up with gangs," she sadly says crossing her arms as she leans against a wall.
"Did you know there are over 450 active gangs in the LA area?" Dillion announces making Spencer and I wince while looking at him.
"Not helping, little man," I tell him and he just grins at me making me playfully roll my eyes. I love that kid but sometimes he's a pain in the ass.
"Look, kids, I went to Crenshaw but somebody gave me a chance. Somebody helped me find a way out. Please let us find you both one. I mean, hell, my own kids go to Beverly. So maybe your father-," Coach Baker informs us and Spencer interrupts him quickly.
"We don't have a father, not anymore," he emotionlessly tells them and I set my hand on his in a soothing way.
"Corey left a few years back. He went to coach college ball in Nevada. We haven't seen him since," mama softly explains giving us a comforting look.
