Chapter six:  A Glance in the Glass

Avery led me to her room to get a swim suit. I have no idea what that is. I'll admit everything they say is confusing. I have no clue what half the stuff they talk about is. Lizzy and Avery chatted excitedly about an upcoming event. I didn't pay any attention and continued to look around the house. The walls were the same blue as before and there were tables with white vases and beautiful twin-flowers with whom I shared a name. Although the flowers were lovely it was odd to see them with the blue back ground. The simplicity made it look elegant.

We reached Avery's room quickly and I was roused from my thoughts. I followed the two girls in and looked around. Everything was a bright yellow. My eyes hurt to look at first but soon I grew used to the blinding color.

"I know." Lizzy mouthed giving me a smirk. I giggled and looked away.

Avery returned from another door holding a small cloth of gold. She thrust her hands out to me offering the cloth. I gingerly fingered the material. It was an odd smooth mesh feeling. I tilted my head to the side examining it. "What is this?"

"A swimsuit silly. Haven't you worn one before?" Avery asked laughing.

Instead of lying again I just shook my head embarrassed. Avery and Lizzy gasped. "What do you mean you've never worn a swimsuit."

"I have never been swimming." I whispered.

Avery smiled softly. "It's okay just go put it on and we'll help you if you need it. We can just sit by the water."

I nodded and went to the room she pointed at. It was a bathroom much like mine. I shed my dress and turned to grab the swimsuit off the counter. I caught sight of myself in the large glass and gasped. The second time I had ever seen myself and this time my whole body. I reached up touching my face while watching the glass version of me do it too. I was beautiful but all angels are.

There was a soft knock on the door. "Everything okay?" Avery asked.

"Yes." I called putting the clothing on and tying it. This swimsuit was awfully revealing and I decided to put my dress on over it. I didn't feel comfortable showing my skin to others. I reached to open the door but my hand hesitated on the spinning handle. I breathed in deeply and then opened it.

Avery's excited smile fell. "You aren't wearing the swimsuit." She deadpanned.

"Yes I am. I just don't feel comfortable showing all this skin." I whispered feeling ashamed at disappointing my new friend.

"Cheer up buttercup it's no problem, now let's go!" She cheered grabbing one of my hands. Lizzy quickly grabbed the other and then just like that we were running. I laughed excitedly. When we arrived at a pool the boys were already there.

Avery tugged me over to a long chair next to a table. Declyn was looking at Don and John. They were pushing each other. I giggled quietly watching the pair goof off. I had never been like that with anyone. Living in secret with only my mother and father to spend time with. My mood changes at the thought of mother. Why didn't the archangels spare her? I shake my head ridding myself of the thoughts plaguing me.

Declyn's head whips around sharply, his eyes piercing into mine. I quickly looked down at the water seeing my warped reflection once again. All of the sudden I went flying forward.

There was water all around me, screams were muffled, I was sinking and then there was nothing.
