(A/N: As promised, here's chapter three! Now, let's get into it! Hobey-ho!)

Y/N was in her dining room, while a warm sense of nostalgia flooded her as she took in the familiar surroundings. She walked down the main hall, sighing a breath of relief in enjoying the feeling of home. Suddenly, she saw dark blue hair out of the corner of her eye, accompanied by a giggle. She fully turned around to see a big pair of hazel eyes staring back at her. Recognizing them as belonging to her younger brother, she reached out to pat his head, as she often did. He believed that he had outgrown that kind of affection. The set of eyes disappeared before her hand could make contact. She looked around the hall frantically, then heard another giggle coming from another room. She smiled upon realizing the game he wanted her to play, their game they had played for many years within their mansion: a combination of 'Hide and Seek' and 'Tag'. She followed the sound into the next room, then looked behind a curtain. She saw a dark blue blur to her right before chasing after it. Vojden had always been faster than her and tough to keep up with. She searched each room on the first floor but failed in finding him. Suddenly, she heard a blood curdling scream and she instantly recognized the voice. She ran toward the sound as it was coming from behind the house. There she found the owner of it, her beloved brother, as well as the person causing him such anguish. There stood their grandmother, holding Vojden in a tight grasp, standing atop a fresh grave. She turned to face Y/N with an eerily evil smirk as she began to pull Vojden away. Y/N was about to run after them, but stopped to read the tombstone on the grave. It was their father's. She tried to cry out for her brother but cold hands appeared from behind, covering her mouth. More hands then followed, dragging her down before pulling her further away and into the ground. Looking up at the sky, she could see her mother, silently watching the whole thing from atop a cloud. Y/N tried to call for her to help Vojden, but couldn't, and realized her mother was too far away to offer any assistance. Y/N helplessly watched as Vojden got dragged into the shadows.

"Y/N!!!" he screamed as he made a final attempt to reach out for her, before being engulfed by darkness.

Y/N shot awake, breathing heavily, and not recognizing where she was at first. The memories of the past two days suddenly flooded her mind like an angry wave. The realization of her new reality hit her like a subway train.

"No... No..." she murmured to herself in horror and disbelief.

She sank back into the bed, after seeing she was alone and that Illumi was already out and about somewhere. She recalled the nightmare she just had, combined with the nightmare she was now living, when suddenly the image of her brother's optimistic face presented itself in her mind. She sat back up and she held on to that image, deciding she would not fall apart there.

'No self-pitying and no-self destructing, do what needs to be done.' Y/N thought to herself sternly.

The thoughts she feared would remind her of a better time and would break her down, were the same ones she then pushed to the front of her mind. Newfound determination filled every fiber of her being, knowing that there was no one who would be there for Vojden but her. The dream made her realize three things. Her grandmother would sell out her own flesh and blood in an instant. Her mother was on the other side of the world with no one knowing when she would return. Lastly, her father was gone for good. Nobody remained to protect Vojden. Even though he was growing older and could fend for himself a fair bit, Y/N was still his older sister and it was still her job to look after him, especially since no one else would. With new resolve, she planned out how she would go about things.

Y/N jolted up and left the bed, suddenly feeling well-rested and with much more energy. She glanced at the clock, then located her mobile phone that was meant to contact Illumi. She decided that she would contact him only for meals, not needing or wanting anything else from him, and only twice a day. There would be no self-destruction in the form of starving herself or succumbing to dehydration. She found Illumi's personal mobile number within the Contacts application and began the call. Her heart quickened with each ring, and on the third ring, it was answered.
