Prologue - Night Before First Episode

It was three in the morning. Clary Fray's birthday.

She woke up from a nightmare. The same one that she had for a few weeks now. Her parents being tortured by some man with a lot tattoes on his skin.

She knocked on her parents bedroom door.

"Come in.", She heard sleepy voice of her dad.

"You sleep with parents when you have a nightmare, even as a teenager.", Rebekah asked laughing at the girl.

"You fell in love with the man that your brother viewed as a son, which makes him your nepfew. Your disgusting.", Hope said defending her sister.

Rebekah looked offended and Klaus smirked proud that his daughter knows how to put people in their place.

"Sweetheart, what's wrong?", Jocelyn asked her daughter, worried expresion on her face.

"I had same nightmare again. Can I sleep in your bed tonight?", Clary asked her parents.

"Of course sweetheart come here.", Klaus said as his daughter lay in bed and he hugged her.

"If she gets to sleep in your bed so do I.", Hope said, walking into the room and laying between her mother and Clary.

After three woman fell asleep Klaus watched them and wondered what did he do to deserve them. He didn't realise he actually said it out loud.

"You don't deserve Hope. And now that I know where she is I'm going to take her away.", Hayley said smugly.

"No you won't. I'm eighteen, I can make that decision myself. And I'm not going anywhere with a stranger.", Hope said.

"She isn't a stranger. She's your mother.", Elijah said looking at Hope.

"No she isn't and she never was.", Hope argued.

Hayley had tears in her eyes and Mikaelsons except Kol and Davina looked at Hope hurt.

"Hope, we're you're family.", Freya said looking at Hope trying to change her opinion.

"I already have my family, so piss off.", Hope said smiling at people next to her.

"You do deserve us. You deserve Hope more than Hayley. If Hayley ran away with Hope your enemies would target them and witches that think Hope will bring just death. You deserve Clary and me more than Valentine. If I stayed with him he probably would've raised Clary to be just like him.", Jocelynn said reaching for his hand, he took her hand to his mouth and kissed it.

"I love you.", He said looking at her lovingly.

"I love you too.", She said and let out a laugh.

Klaus looked at her, "What is so funny?", He asked her letting out a little laugh himself.

"Just thinking how past me who was in love with Valentine would react if she knew I end up marrying Valentine's best friend.", He rolled his eyes when she said he was Valentine's best friend, "Don't roll your eyes at that. Don't try to decline that you cared about him. You don't take fifty wooden bullets in the heart and chest to protect someone you don't care about."

"You were friends?!", Clary asked at the same time Hope asked, "You took fifty bullets for him?!"

"Yes we were and yes I did. Worst mistake of my life. Should've just let them kill you.", Klaus said glaring at Valentine, who had a smirk on his face.

Everyone else other than older Lightwoods and Magnus Bane looked suprised that Klaus and Valentine used to be friends.

"That friendship turned into hatred the moment he tried to kill Hope.", He said with look of rage, vengance and hatred in his eyes.

"He tried to kill me?!!", Hope screamed.

"And you say you took her away to give her better life. She nearly got killed.", Hayley sneared and glared at Klaus.

"And you would be able to protect me?", Hope asked with a chuckle.

"Yes I would be able to protect you.", Hayley said looking softly at Hope thinking she can make Hope see she would be safer with her.

"You may be a hybrid but unlike dad you can die with pencil to a heart. And your pack wouldn't have been able to protect me. You really thought you and your pack would be able to defeat Dahlia. She nearly killed original vampires and you thought she couldn't handle some over confident wolves.", Hope said glaring at Hayley while everyone expect Mikaelson family and Simon because he didn't know who Dahlia was were suprised Hayley thought she can defeat Dahlia. They all heard about her, she is one of the strongest witches in history.

Hayley rolled her eyes still thinking that she could've defeated Dahlia if she had a chance.

"You should go to sleep now. I don't want you to be tired in the morning.", Klaus said, hugging her and pulling her as close as he could with their daughters in between.

"Good night.", Jocelyn said as she closed her eyes.

"Good night.", Klaus said smiling at his wife and two daughters and after few minutes he fell asleep himself.
