A Detestable Life

Chapter 3

BRINGGGGGG!!!!! My head flew up knocking me out of my own chair. Laughter filled the room as I took my headphones. I glanced around confussed and watched Jayden sink down in her chair in embarrisment. "Nice sister Jayden" someone called out behind laughter.

Jayden slammed her hands on the table and glared at me. I gave her an apologetic look but she ignored me. She grabbed her bag and stormed out the door. I slowly stood up and grabbed my bag. A cloud of depression hung over me. Tony sweatdropped and patted my back. Tony and Jason pushed me out of the room and to Tony and me's next class. Jayden ignored me until about lunch. Then they made that announcment.

I saw Lindsy approach me with a flyer and held it out to me. I glance at it and took it. She smiled a genuine smiled as I gave her a confused look. I looked at the paper and my mouth dropped. Cheerleading Try-outs. "Why are you giving me this" I asked confused.

" Well" she began looking slightly guilty. " I think you should be on the squad because your pretty enough for it and I think we got off on the wrong foot a long time ago. Hey you've always been clumsy so it was probily an accident when you spilled that on me."

I looked in her eyes trying to see if she was lying but I only saw truth in her eyes. I just noticed but her face was slightly pink and around her nose looked slightly bruised. Feeling guilty, I looked back at the flyer. She was biting her lip when I looked back up. " Why not" I said smiling back. " And I'm sorry I hit you this morning. It was a reflex."

Her smile returned. "Oh no I deserved it" she said gleefully. " Thank you so much for trying out. See you later Hayden."

With that she happily walked away to join her confused cheer posse. " Did you hit her a little too hard this morning" a familiar voice asked.

I turned to see Jude smirking as he sat next to Jason. " I guess so" I said shrugging.

Jude and Jason obviously knew each other because they did this handshake. Tony and me made a weird look at each other and they glanced at us in confussion. We glanced back and burst into laughter and they gave us an even more confused look. "Hey cuz" Tony said waving at Jude.

Jude waved back. Now that I look at it, they kinda look alike in a way. Jason decided to light another cigarette as I decided not to eat the school lunch. " So how did you all meet each other exactly" Jude questioned glaring at the now smoking Jason.

" Well Tony saved me from getting hit by a car" I said shrugging. " And Smokey over there helped me stop my nosebleed from when some jerks hit me in the face with a soccer ball."

Jason glared at me and I stuck my tounge out at him. I took his cigarette, took a puff, and put it out on our table. I blew the smoke in his face. He smirked. A look in his eye told me he would get revenge. " So how was your day so far Jude" I asked ignoring the revenge seeking Jason.

He shrugged. " It could be better without the swarming girls" he began. He pointed at me. " I think Lindsy has a thing for you now. During homeroom she was making doodles with your name in hearts."

My left eye twitched. You can't be serious? Only truth reflected in his eyes as he pulled out his phone. He pushed a few buttons until he stopped and held the phone up for us to see. There was Lindsy doodling away. You could barely see it, but she was drawing a heart around my name. They were all over the paper. My head slammed down in utter shock. I began to beat my head on the table as Jude and Jason began to laugh.

"Hayden has a new girlfriend" Jason joked as he relit his cigarette.

I glared at him and he held his hands up in defence. " So what's everyone doing after school."

" Nothing" they all said in unision and laughed.

I sighed. They looked at me in confusion. " What" I asked. " I was gonna get ice cream after school but Jayden is mad at me so.... you guys wanna come?"

They looked at each other and Tony nodded extremly fast. Jude sighed. Jason did a why not shrug. I looked at Jude. I saw him smile a cute smile that they didn't see. He finally agreed and I jumped up in happiness. I sat back down quickly as the principal gave me the wierdest look.

When the final bell rang I stood up stretching. Tony stood up stretching also due to the most boring lecture on Earth. I felt a pair of arms push me straight and I had to glance back. There was Jayden with an annoyed look on her face. She slightly glared at me as she walked past.

"What's with her" Tony asked sounding a tad annoyed at Jayden's behavior.

"I honestly have no idea" I said confused. " She has been like that to me all day."

I felt a pair of arms drape over me and a head rest on my shoulder. I turned to see it was Jude. He looked really tired. He glanced at me and blew his hair out of his eyes. I smiled and poked his forehead. " Was it the girls again or do you have last hour gym?"

" Both " he said groaning in remembrance. " You guys are lucky you aren't getting swarmed."

"It's because I'm either a loser or I'm non-noticable" I replied nonchalantly. We walked towards the lockers and threw our bags in our new lockers. Jude and I had lockers right next to each other while Tony's was across the hall. Jason walked towards me and opened the other locker next to mine. I smiled for I was between my only friends.

Shutting his locker he gave me a wierd look. I gave one back and he smiled. Barely, but it still counts. Tony laughed a tad and walked back towards us. I smiled the biggest smile and pulled on Jude who wasn't paying attention. " Our ice cream awaits us " I said smirking causing them all to laugh. 'Today was definatly the best day I've had in years' I thought smiling to myself.
