I got a call from the hospital saying that my daughter had left the hospital without any release papers and was on the loose. I knew exactly where she was.
I hop in my Porsche. My friend, Mijo, runs out, calling after me.
"Where are you going?" he asks.
"Cali left the hospital. I know she went back to Marcus's. We had an argument yesterday and she said she was leaving."
"Then let her leave."
"She just had surgery last night. She shouldn't be out running around. Her stitches might come out. I have to find her and apologize."
"What did y'all fight about?"
"Rihanna. She says they fight a lot and Rih hurts her. But I know she just wants Rih gone."
"I hate to break it to you, but she's right. I walked in on them one time and Rih had Cali by her hair. Rih told me not to tell you or else."
I let my head fall on the steering wheel. "Are you serious?"
"More serious than I've ever been."
"Dammit, I feel terrible. I can't believe I picked Rih over my own daughter. My own flesh and blood."
"Yeah, that's just cold, dude." I glare at him.
"I'll shut up. But I'm coming with you. Hood is eating Taco Bell and I do not want to be there when he goes to the bathroom."
"Just get in." Mijo hops in the front seat and I pull out of the driveway.
When we pull up in front of her house, I immediately jump out without turning the car off. Mijo grabs the keys and follows me.
"Cali?" I call, walking in the front door.
"Hey, is that blood?" Mijo points to the stairs.
"Oh no." I race up the stairs skipping two steps at a time. "Cali!" I shove her bedroom door open, letting it slam into the wall. I see her legs on the floor on the other side of the bed. She was covered in blood.
"Mijo, bring me a towel. Now." I order. She's holding her stomach where the stitches should be. I roll her over to get a better look. Sure enough, most of her stitches are missing. I put pressure on it just as she opens her eyes.
"Just stay still, okay?" I tell her.
"D-daddy? What a..are y-you doing-g here?"
"Saving your ass, that's what. Why did you leave the hospital? You know you weren't ready."
"Why did you l-leave me? I-I thought yo-u loved me."
"Cali, I'm sorry I didn't believe you. It was wrong for me to pick Rih. I'm sorry. I love you so much. I'm sorry." Mijo walks in and hands me a towel. I place it on her wound.
"Call 911." I tell him.
"No! I don't wanna go back!" Cali struggles to get up.
"You have to. No buts about it." I pull her into my arms.
"Promise you won't leave me?" she pleads.
"I promise."
"Yeah, I'm here with my friend and his daughter." Mijo spoke to the police. "Her stitches came out and she's losing a lot of blood. Yes, California Brown. Yes, he is. A towel. She's breathing. And talking, but barely. They're on their way? Okay, thanks." Mijo turns to us. "Medics are on their way."
"Thanks. Come on, Cali. Lets get you downstairs." I pick her up, making sure I keep pressure on the wound, and carry her downstairs, laying her on the sofa.
When the paramedics arrive, they take Cali back to the hospital. Apparently she has to go back into surgery and get more stitches. Me and Mijo ride back to the hospital.
"Will she be okay?" Mijo asks.
"The medics said she should be fine. But this time, they're restraining her to the bed so she can't leave again."
"Talk about overreacting."
"Knowing Cali, it's probably the best thing they can do." We pull up in the hospital parking lot and get out.
"That car looks familiar." Mijo points to a red Camry.
"Yeah, it looks like......Marcus! That's his car!" I race inside to find Marcus in the waiting room.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I snap at him.
"Well if you didn't know, being the poor father that you are, my girlfriend is in surgery."
"She is not your girlfriend! Not anymore she isn't! I suggest you get out of here."
"And what if I don't?" I balled my fists up.
"If you two don't calm down, I'm going to have to call security." A nurse yells at us.
Marcus sits back down.
"He's not worth it. Think about Cali." Mijo grabs my shoulder, pulling me away. "She needs you." I sit down, but I still keep my eye on Marcus. He's the whole reason she's in here anyway.
Sorry Its boring and short. I promise to make the next chapter exciting!
