Thunder roared in the horizon.
She was swimming against the rapid current, inching closer and closer but it wasn't enough. Oh of course there was progress, but it also, wasn't enough. The sky was ruby-red, and the clouds were as dark as the deepest trench.
People were panicking, and as people do, they ran. The ship was a small one, a weak one, a pushy one.
The waves crashed against the boat, people were grabbing ahold of something, anything, just to not fall over board. That would mean certain death.
They were struggling- so was her. She inched closer to the boat, however the sea was not inclined on helping. It squeezed her from below and above, from right to left. The sea was not safe, her home was not safe.
The screams filled her ears with concern. They were not like her, but they were in danger. Just like her.
She was reasoning to just jump in the boat, and give them aid, that also, was not safe. May it be the sea or the land of a simple vehicle, no where was safe for her. Unlike the humans, who feels safe in the boat, their only haven. She doesn't feel safe at all. Not in both territories.
She could perhaps leave.
Forget them, a voice in her head said. Nothing but trouble.
No, she thought. Never.
Now with a surge of dedication, and a sample of commitment. She continued assisting the human. Just enough for them to stay safely afloat in the rough sea.
Hours passed, the sea began to calm down, until it fully did.
She was beneath the ship, she was exhausted. Only the will left within, helped her remain still, not to sink into the bottomless sea.
Footsteps from aboard startles her, the humans are moving. Perhaps preparing to set sail and return to safe ol' land.
A man on the boat peered into the cool waters of the sea, he had intense brown eyes and curly dark hair. The sky was pale blue, the clouds were a calm white.
"Spot anything Raden?" A big man with a long black beard asked. Raden, who was too focused on the sea, blankly answered. "Nothing."
The big man scowled, picking up a crate. "Told ya' so."
Raden glanced at the man. "I saw it, with my own two eyes. It was helping us." The big man grunted as a response, Raden knit his brown together and turned back to the sea.
"Thank you," He said. "Again."
He moved away from the rear of the boat and decided to help the big man. "Let's head back before Tamila gets worried."
The big man laughed. "She's always worried."
Unknown to Raden, someone responded to his thanks. It wasn't audible from above. She said, "You're welcome."
She left with another feeling that will soon haunt her, just like the little boy she saved ten years ago.
Because it was the same little boy.
He wasn't that little anymore.
