Caroline Spencer was the daughter of Fatima Spencer and Derek Spencer, the poorest people in town. They could barely afford their house, so, Caroline got used to the simple life and getting nothing on holidays. Caroline taught herself everything she knew because they couldn't afford education.

One normal looking night she could hear screams and footsteps running everywhere outside and she could not hear Fatima and Derek. She walked slowly to the dirty front door and opened it. Her elderly neighbors were walking in a strange way over to her house. They got to the front door. "Can I help you Mr and Mrs Ren?" Asked Caroline. All she heard were groans in reply. She shut the door and soon later she turned on the news and it had said millions were dead.

Caroline knew what she had to do. Fatima and Derek had trained her to fight so that if they were gone or had died and she needed to fight she could. Next thing you know, she had killed her whole infected neighborhood.

Years later she was 14 and still living at her house. One day, a man and a child walked through her dead town. She walked outside holding a gun. "What the hell are you doing in my town?" She said to the man and child. "We are not here to harm anybody. We are just going to the border. I need to get her to safer areas. Do you think we could stay in your house for a couple days?" Asked the man. Caroline spotted the bite mark on the child's arm. The child said, "I can prove to you I'm not infected. Full name: Ellie Williams." She stuck her hand out and counted slowly to ten

"Depends. Who are you and where did you come from?" Asked Caroline. "I am Joel Miller. This is Ellie. We come from the FEDRA camp up north. Aren't you a little young to be by yourself in the apocalypse?" Said Joel. "Thanks for telling me. And no, I am not too young. I have no one." Caroline proved. "I have enough food and beds for you two. Come in."
