His eyes stayed open, but he didn't move. He knew who it was though, her gentle touch as familiar as ever. He smiled and waited, would she stay? Would she speak?

He didn't have to wait long. As he felt her fingers run slowly over his shoulders, she whispered "oh Jonathan, darling I'm sorry. So very sorry. " there was a pause and he heard a sniff, the next words a half sob. "I know now it wasn't your choice. I'm sorry I didn't fight for you, for us. I'm sorry I let you think I hated you. And I'm sorry you got hurt for me. I wish" again she paused and this time he felt her tears fall on his back " I wish you knew how much I still love you. I never stopped."

Her hand lifted and he heard muffled sobs as she cried into her hands.

Kate sobbed, her shoulders shaking as all the pain and loss and guilt washed over her. She was so lost in her world of remorse that she didn't notice him turn to her. She was so wrapped up in her guilt, she wasn't aware of him sitting up behind her and she only knew her was awake when two strong arms wrapped themselves around her.

His breath was warm on her cheek, his voice soft and sleepily hoarse in her ear. It sounded like an angel to her ravaged soul.

"Its ok Katy" he kissed her cheek, "I never stopped loving you either."

She turned and looked at him, hardly able to stop smiling through her tears. For a moment he stopped, stroked her hair behind her ear then gently grasped her jaw. His lips met hers in a velvet soft kiss.

"Darling, I always knew I would find you again. I just hoped it would be under better circumstances. You have nothing to be sorry for."

He smiled at her and she looked down, still ashamed. " I cant help it Jonathan. This is all because of me."

He tipped her chin up and looked into her eyes, her beautiful eyes.

"And thank God for that" Jonathan said making her look at him in surprise. "If it wasn't you, I couldn't do this." Gently he pulled her to him and as they kissed, he lay down taking her with him.

"I love you Kate Dempster, I always will."

By the time Angela came knocking at the door several hours later, to see if they wanted dinner, Kate knew that for sure.
