The next day at school, I really struggled to stay awake which was always unusual for me since I always got enough sleep for school. But since I'd stayed up all night, and cried for most of it, I was having a really hard time staying awake.
After the panic attack happened, I couldn't stop crying; I kept thinking about my mom, and the day she left trying to process it all for the billionth time.
I was 11 when my mom left, so it was almost 7 years ago and ever since that day, all that I thought about every single day for all of those years was: "When's mom coming home?" I replayed the moment I found out she left every single day, trying to figure out the reason that she left my dad and I.
How could someone be so cruel?
I shook my head and blinked fast trying to stay awake in class while taking notes.
"Psst." Ava pinched my arm catching my attention, "I know that what happened last night was... insane... But maybe a party tonight will make you feel better." She shrugged giving me sweet smile.
I thought about it for a second or two because I wasn't sure if going to a party on a week day was the best idea, but I realized that maybe having a little bit of fun was going to make me feel slightly better about the situation.
"Sure, why not?" I forced on a big smile and Ava squealed.
-----
Ava and I went to my house after school to be able to plan our outfits for the party. She said she that she had clothes in the trunk of her car so she didn't need to borrow clothes when I offered.
I held up a black dress to my chest. "How's this?" I asked.
She scrunched up her nose then shook her head. "Too plain."
I turned around then headed back inside my closet to try to find something nice to wear to the party. There was a lot of clothes in there, but none of them screamed "party".
"This looks cute." Ava said making me jump.
She laughed when she saw the terror on my face, so I immediately playfully slapped her arm. Ava grabbed the dress that she was referring to and put it up to my body with a beaming smile on her face.
I looked down at the dress and tried to think of how I was supposed to step out of the house in that. Honestly, I didn't even know how that dress ended up in my closet because I'd never bought something so short in my life.
The dress was pretty but I didn't know how it was going to look on me. It looked like the dress was barely going to cover up my butt, and my boobs were going to be on display for everyone to see.
"I know what you're thinking, but just give it a chance." Ava reassured me as she walked out of my closet and towards my room.
When I walked out, the dress was laid out on my bed with a pair of silver heels to go along with it. "Do you know who's going to be there?" I checked on the nail of my thumb.
"No people from school, so don't even worry about it because you most likely won't see these people ever again." Ava placed her arms on my shoulders which somehow made me feel so much better.
----
I looked at myself in the mirror that was at the entrance of the party to make sure that I looked okay. The dress was just below my butt but it looked good. It was a silver dress with spaghetti straps and it had a short v line between my breasts, but even though the v line was short, it still showed a lot of cleavage.
