Hidden
Within the deepest of shadows,
Hidden even from the sun of midday.
A woman lies in wait,
For anyone to come and light the way.
Locked deep within,
Her mind dwells in the past.
Kind, hopeful, loving words...
Never seem to last.
Everyone fades, fades, fades,..
They fade into nothing.
They do not see her,
The woman locked in shadow.
They cannot hear her,
For words evade her tongue.
They cannot help her,
She just won't let them in.
A stranger takes pause,
With swaying lantern at their side.
The stranger treads the threshold,
Bringing their glowing light.
The shadows recede,
Leaving the woman no longer hidden
From midday's light.
