Sometimes I ponder over the things that were. Wonder how things would've been different had I never met Steve Harrington in the summer before the sixth grade. If we had never ate that ice cream in Halteman Park, or never took that family trip down to Indianapolis. If he hadn't of taught me how to rollerblade, or bandaged up my knee when I fell. When we talked about the release of Grease, and snuck into the cinema with sweets underneath our sweaters when it came out. If I did not have these experiences, I wouldn't linger on these pretty thoughts.I guess time is the only thing that helps. As you pass by someone you used to love in the hallways, who pretends you don't exist, time makes it easier. Freshman year, it all feels a little surreal. Something that is hard to accept. Sophomore year — anger. Better than sadness. Junior year — confusion. Senior year — just another stranger who used to know your deepest fears. The good thing is, they feel like another person. Your self conscious mind makes you believe that they are.
All of the radio silence. The promises of forever that were never kept. The pain of a friendship breakup. The unspoken memories of something that was real (to me, anyway). These things. These entities that exist in the world.
These are the thorns that grew between us
