Katelyn slams the door to her family's gray Suv, filled with boxes, and sighs. Her mom, Emilie, walks out of their old house holding the keys in one hand, and a box in another. She gives her a sad smile and stands next to the car to look at the house, it wasn't much of a house but it was where Katelyn grew up. And now, she had to leave it all behind, just to go to a small town in Ohio with her mom.

"Well, it's time to end this chapter and turn the page to another." Katelyn turns to her mother with a cheesy smile snickering to herself,

"You got that from one of your romance books. Didn't you?" The younger girl accuses, pointing to her mom who was now blushing in embarrassment. She just laughs and hops in the car, the older woman following,

"Next stop. Sanborn Ohio, Our new home." Putting on her earbuds Katlyn took one last look at her old house, with 'Soft Boy' playing in the background. This was going to be an interesting trip...

The bumps in the road woke Katelyn up, as her mom dove into the small place where she was going to live and learn to love. The small town gave off a strange aura, one of wonder and comfort but, there also was a sense of danger that the wonder tried to hide.

"Look," Emilie starts, breaking the silence, "There's your new school, you're starting on Monday." At the mention of school, the younger girl immediately scowled. The kids at her old school never liked her, so she had no friends and was a target of bullying, "Oh come on! The kids at school can't be that bad! And, it's a new school! New opportunities!" The younger girl scoffed again, but noticed two girls in the street walking a...fish? With...fur? She blinks but by the time she looks back, the fish disappeared.

"M-mom did- did you see that? Know what. Never mind." Katelyn's mother pulled into a carport in front of a smallish stone house with plants overgrown on the side of it. "Why did we move again?" The younger girl asked, hopping out of the car and grabbing boxes.

"Well for starters, a change of scenery is always nice. And-" The older girl cut herself off with a grunt as she grabbed a heavy box and unlocked the door. "And I have an old friend that lives here. Now-" She placed the heavy box down in the kitchen and opened it. Insideweree mixing bowls and different cooking supplies, "The moving truck dropped everything off the other day so, your stuff should be in the living room. And, at...phh...let's say 3. We walk around town to see what's around." It was a smaller house, with one bathroom, two bedrooms, a living room, an attic, and a big kitchen with a cellar right outside. "I'll let you pick what room you want, oh, and can you check out the attic? If you want you can make that your room and change the second one into an office." Katelyn just shrugged and walked around,

"Mom! The cellar is locked!" she yelled from outside pulling the handles, trying to open the underground room. Her mom poked her head out the backdoor and looked at the girl confused.

"It got sealed up for safety. I wonder why they still have the doors..." Katelyn huffed, annoyed. Finally, she got to the attic, it wasn't much. Two skylights and a trapdoor door but it was just the amount of space for a desk, bed, shelves, and a dresser with some space left over.

"MOM!" She yelled, "Im going to move into the attic!" She heard a small 'ok' from her mom and smiled, grabbing her boxes and starting to unpack.

Katelyn and Emilie just got back to the house after doing some shopping for some more decorations around the house and in Katelyn's room. Looking around her room with posters of her favorite musicals up, Katelyn walked over to the kitchen to try and find something to eat. The fridge was mostly empty, with only milk and sauce bottles. Sighing she grabbed the milk, and the coco-puffs from that morning and just had a bowl of cereal and watched tv.  Falling asleep on the couch.
