Prof Maxwell mentioned something that caught the attention of both James and Kelvin, most especially, Kelvin.
He mentioned about the history and culture of China. The most gripping part, he talked about the mystical and mythical creatures in the ancient Shanghai Dynasty.
He also said that the Chinese still believe that the creatures still exist and dwell in the ancient Tsakumi forest, Shanghai.
*Bell rings *
"You heard what Prof Maxwell said right? Man I'm interested in that. I'll go to the library to do more research". Kelvin said.
"Yeah I heard that, I'm also interested in that. But, aren't we on break now?" James asked.
"That's true. How about we go grab lunch huh?"
The two went to grab lunch. At the school shop, James was about to order for veggies and fruits with chill soda. But he found out that he couldn't ask for the soda.
He eventually dropped the soda and asked for veggies and fruits only. On the other hand, Kelvin kept on ordering for foods as much as his stomach could fill.
When Kelvin was done with his orders, he saw that James dropped the soda. He thought that James didn't have much, so, he offered to buy the soda for James.
No matter how many times Kelvin offered him the soda, James kept saying he's fine. Although James wanted to have soda, he just couldn't order for he wanted to save money.
Although, James doesn't receive much from his allowance, he always save half of his little allowance or sometimes all his allowance.
James understands his mother's situation and financial issues. So, he vowed to always support her even if it is little or insignificant.
This action often cause James starving every time. Despite the struggle and hunger James always face, he cautioned and disciplined himself to always refuse foods offered by others.
After some minutes, James and Kelvin were through with their lunch and headed to the library.
On their way to the library, James and Kelvin overheard some students whispering and talking about the latter.
It seemed that Mr Eric and Prof Maxwell have been talking about James in other classes. The teachers had told the students to look up to James as a role model.
One of the students said "Isn't that the new student Prof Maxwell was talking about?"
Another student said "Yeah, he's so hot. Oh my gosh!"
One of James's classmates said "He's not only hot, he's also intelligent. I like him already. I wanted to talk to him, but I just couldn't approach him".
"Looks like you have created fame for yourself, you're like a star now huh" Kelvin said before they both entered the library. James couldn't stop smiling when he heard all those appraisals.
In the library, James met Priscilla and the damsel. The damsel and Priscilla were reading together. James was so surprised.
Kelvin saw the impression on James's face and said "Don't be surprised, they're close friends. We're both in the same class but different section. Ours is Grade 10B and the girl's is 10A".
"Wow. I thought she's a junior or senior" James replied.
"Let's find books about China" Kelvin continued.
The two searched endlessly for books about China, but none of them found one.
Furious, James said "Is this even a library?"
"I'm sure there are books about China, I've read them before. But, I wonder why we can't even find one" Kelvin answered.
The two were now sweating. "How about we ask the girls?" Kelvin suggested.
"Sorry ladies, have you seen any book about China?" Kelvin asked.
"Yeah, we've got tons of them here" Priscilla replied.
"What! We've been searching for those for hours" James said
"Well, you should have ask first" the damsel replied.
"I can see both of you want to do some research. We're just as curious as you guys are" Priscilla continued.
"How about we read together, it'll be fun" Kelvin asked.
The four read together during break. When break was over they rushed out of the library to prepare for the next class.
On their way to their prospective class, the damsel apologized to James "James, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude to you. I was only angry because you didn't apologize well and the scratch was painful".
"Oh, it's fine. I'm also sorry for not apologizing well" James replied.
"By the way, the name's Tolly Dalton" the damsel continued.
Kelvin and Priscilla giggled at James and Tolly. James and Tolly understood what their giggling meant, but chose to ignore them.
The four went to their class and paid attention to what the teacher taught them. Two hours later, the bell was rung again. This time, it was for the end of school lessons.
James carried his dilapidated bag and hung it at his back, he was set to go pick his sister at Cradenville.
"James James James! Wait for me" Kelvin called James.
"What now Kelvin?" James murmured.
Kelvin ran towards James and asked "Where are you heading to?"
"Cradenville" James replied.
Just then, Priscilla and Tolly joined.
"Watsup boys" Priscilla said
"The sky" James joked.
They all laughed. "Seriously, where are you heading to?" Priscilla asked.
"Cradenville" James and Kelvin replied at the same time.
"Jinx, you're boarding a bus to take us to Cradenville" James quickly said.
"Fine!" Kelvin replied.
"We're all heading the same way" Tolly said.
Just as Tolly finished her statement, a student came and asked James "Sorry, are you James Craig? I heard you're so intelligent, and you're also hot. My name's Ella Smith. Nice to meet you".
Tolly, Kelvin and Priscilla stared and giggled at James.
