A few seconds later the door opened and a guy with green hair and tan skin opened the door. He didn't seem to be much older than me. He was wearing a black Gun's and Roses shirt with dark jeans that were covered with holes. His arms were covered with tattoos. One of them showed a stick figure on a skateboard. He looked at me with a questioning frown.

"Hi...I'm Ivy."

I try to say as calmly as possible.

"I'm Landon."

He leans against the doorframe looking me up and down.

"I'm here for the room."

I pulled out the piece of paper from my pocket and handed it to him.

He took it and mustered it with a frown.

"Hold on." he said while turning away from the door.

"Nathan!" he yelled down the hall.

"What?" I'm guessing Nathan yelled back.

After Landon didn't answer him a guy with dark brown hair popped his head into the hallway. After he spotted me in the doorway, he walked over to us. Landon shoved the piece of paper in his hand and Nathan studied it calmly. Then his face lit up in realisation.

"Oh! You're here for the room!" Nathan said to me. "I'm Nathan but you can just call me Nate. Most people call me Nate."

"Hey. I'm Ivy." I shook his hand and he grinned.

His grin was infatuating. Landon on the other hand seemed to be extremely sceptical about the situation.

"Great. Come in." Nate said while stepping aside ang gesturing for me to enter.

"You're not going to murder me, right?" I asked wary while still standing outside. "Because this is a really nice neighbourhood and the rent for the room is suspiciously cheap."

Nate laughs while Landon's frown turns into something ironically amusing. At least that's how I think you could describe his expression. Whatever it means it scared me just a bit. Enough for me to be wary about the situation. All of this seems to be too good to be true.

"We are not going to kill you or harm you in any way. I promise." Nate says with a very serious expression now.

"How can I know that's true? Maybe you're lying." I say while standing my ground.

"I'll leave this to you, weirdo." says Landon to Nate before disappearing down the hall.

"Okay. I swear on all the boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch in the World." he put one hand on his chest with a very honest and serious look in his eyes.

I study him for a second. I do need this room. And he seems to be nice. Ted Bundy seemed nice too though. Well, what's the worst that can happen to me? They'll kill me and get rid of my body without anyone ever finding out? Maybe. I think I'll take my shot though.

"Okay. I believe you for now." I say while entering the house. "I don't think Cinnamon Toast Crunch are the best cereal in the world though."

"Oh, you did not just say that." he gasped. "Take it back."

"I don't think so. Cocoa Puffs are most definitely the superior cereal."

"That is a very wrong opinion." he counters.

"Are we going to stand here and argue some more about breakfast cereal or are you going to actually show me my room?"

"Your room? What makes you think you'll get the room?" he asks with a raised eyebrow.
