Somewhat of context before you read: You and Howl were already in a relationship when one of the king made you fight in the war (takes place in the middle of the movie only a few minutes movie wise after he has a melt down due to his hair color) but yea this should clear things up. Enjoy!

"Howl?" "Howl?!"

Howls head shot up after dozing off. "Are you alright Howl?" Sophie asked with a sympathetic look. "Yes I am fine I'm just tired" Howl looked outside to see the sun almost set fully, "I'll go to bed early today" Howl mumbled as he trotted up the stairs. "Master Howl, wait there is a letter for you, from a Y/n L/n" Markl yelled running up to Howl and giving the letter to him. "Thank you Markl.." how and why is he still sending these.. Howl thought as he took himself to his room. The moment he closed the door he slid down it opening the letter

"My Dear Howl,"  Howl sighed as he read the first line as he grazed his thumb over the writing.

"I am aware that today would be our 9th year apart I am sorry I couldn't make it home yet. I want you to know that it was never your fault. Knowing you, you probably blame yourself. My choice to do this had nothing to do with you. But I wanted to tell you that I will send for you and after that I will explore with you my love, until then"

His head shot up and he heard Sophie yelling at some one. The raven haired man dashed down the stairs to see Sophie on the other side of the room holding back Markl away from the (h/c) haired colored male that laid down on the floor with his face being covered by the floor and his hair.

"Y/n..?" Howl muttered before rushing over to the male and turned him over brushing the (h/c) hair out of the way to reveal the man he once thought was dead laying down on his floor almost dead. 

"Sophie go get my book.." Howl's voice was low and stern. Sophie gave him the large book of potions. "Master Howl what are you looking for?" Markl questioned as Howl flipped through the pages of the potion book. "Healing Markl" He replied while tracing his finger down the ingredients, "now can you and Sophie go get me the lizard tails and a vial of one of the green potions in the storage room on the third shelf they are all the same on that shelf. Be quick but don't drop them bring them into my room I need to be isolated for this to work." Howl explains as he picked the (h/c) man up (bridal style if you were wondering). 

A few minutes pass and the potion was ready. He slowly poured the potion into a syringe. He found a vein and slowly gave the dose to y/n. About ten minutes pass and Howl whispered into his hands "Please don't do this to me again, I can't lose you.."

"H-Howl..?" the voice said elongated and dry, coughing in between breaths. "Y-Y/N!" Howl exclaimed as he stood up in shock. "What happened? You don't show up for 9 years and make me think your dead, then you show up in the castle almost as dead as a doorknob." Y/n turned his head in silence and closed his eyes adverting Howls gaze until he felt arms wrap around him "I'm just glad you are ok.." Y/n heard a small sniffle come from Howl before realizing that Howl was crying. This was probably a lot on him and so fast as well that it didn't take long for the adrenaline in Howl to wear out and fall asleep in the others arms. Y/n slowly adjusted his position and the not so awake Howl thought that the (h/c) haired man was trying to leave again then mumbling "Please don't leave again.."
