DANIELLE'S P.O.V
The sky was covered with dark clouds that gave a foreshadowing feel of a downpour. The house was cast in a cloak of stilling darkness, and cool breeze wafted through the open window. I breathed in the fresh air and sighed in satisfaction at the feeling of peace that came alongside my action. At first it drizzled, but after a few minutes, it began to rain heavily with thunder and lightning, signifying the torrential downpour of precipitation. I made a dash for the open window and thankfully, I closed it in time to avoid any of the rain water getting into my room.
It was the first rain in the month of June. I gleefully scampered out of my bedroom and into the living room, excited to start my day, but my joy was brought to an ultimate end when I sighted Adrian.
I checked the digital clock in the living room to confirm that my eyes were not playing a prank on me. The time read 10:21 am. He should have been out of the house long before then, so what in the world was he still doing sited here.
I concluded that he had probably woken up late; a very odd thing for him to do, but I was not surprised because he had been behaving odd the previous day. His waking up late had caused him to be restricted from going to work, and had instead confined him into the house.
My hopes of having the house to myself and enjoying the first rain of June were cut shut by the realization that Adrian and I were forced into joint confinement by the rain.
I hesitantly entered the living room and took my seat on the couch that faced the television, causing me to be sited opposite Adrian.
"Good morning." I greeted and put on the television.
Adrian grunted a reply as he continued typing on his laptop, obviously too busy trying to catch up with whatever work he had to do today, to give me a more cultured reply.
I ignored his rudeness and reduced the TV's volume to a bare hum, using the aid of subtitles to understand the movie I was watching.
I heard a thud beside me and looked to see Adrian had dropped a brown paper bag on the couch I was sited on. The bag looked heavy and I curiously picked it up, dropping the TV remote in my hand. I went through it and was surprised to see pamphlets of different business schools and colleges in New York. I looked further to see a business course outline, confused by what I was seeing, I turned to Adrian.
"What's this?" I asked.
Adrian looked up from his laptop and let his hands hang limply on the arms of the chair he was sited on.
"Father spoke to me about you getting a business degree. Pick whichever you think best suits your schedule, if you have any, which I understand you do not, and tell me about your choice when you're ready. I'd advice the sooner, the better. Father does not like to be kept waiting, and neither do I." he said
"A business degree?" I asked, too surprised to care about his insult.Adrian looked at me with blank and emotionless eyes. He went back to typing on his laptop like I was invisible.
I cleared my throat and stared at him with a questioning look on my face and he mirrored my expression.
"I asked a question." I said, rolling my eyes in annoyance.
"What question?"he asked.
"What is this talk about me getting a business degree? I don't understand."
"What do you not understand. I thought the statement in itself was self explanatory." he said, returning his attention to his laptop.
"It's not self explanatory if I'm still confused." I stated.
