chapter 3

don't know how i managed to end up...this way

"What?" Stiles asks out of nowhere, sounding defensive. I look up from the sidewalk and furrow my brows, confused.

"What, what do you mean, 'what'?" Scott questions before I can.

"I mean 'what'. And you know what. Both of you do." He responds, flailing his arms as he speaks.

"'What' what?" I ask, looking back down at the sidewalk.

"That look you two are giving."

"We didn't give a look." Scott defends, leaning forwards as he walks to see Stiles who stands on the other side of me.

"Oh, there was a distinct look, Scott." Stiles continues.

"What look, then?" I ask, snapping my head up agitatedly.

"The look that says that the last thing either of you feel like doing right now is going to a party." Stiles finally says. I roll my eyes and look over at Scott who's watching his feet, his face scrunched up in anxiety.

"It's not that." Scott replies, shaking his head.

"Well, it is that for me, so maybe I'll just leave the two of you to it and-" I begin to turn around, but Stiles grabs my arm and pulls me back, not allowing me to snake my way out of this.

I roll my eyes and listen to Scott as we start to walk again.

"It just seems weird going to a different high school's party."  Scott explains, and I internally agree.

"What? Would you-" Stiles groans before throwing his hands in the air and saying, "God, one drink, all right? You'll be fine. Both of you will be."

"Right...so if I happen to rip out someone's throat, that's fine? Because I'm hungry and not for finger foods." I comment sarcastically. Stiles sighs and grabs my hand, attempting to calm me down.

"Listen, I went to nursery school with this girl, okay? She promised to introduce you to all of her friends." Stiles says to Scott. "So, tonight, no Allison. Tonight, you're moving on."

Scott looks down at his phone as Stiles speaks, and I notice an incoming call from Allison herself.

He declines the call before shoving his phone into his pocket and saying, "You're right."

"That's right I'm right." Stiles exclaims triumphantly.

"Moving on..." Scott trails off, seeming lost in thought.

"Onward and upward." Stiles continues, pointing towards the dark sky.

"Let's just get this over with." I say as we stop walking in front of the crowded house.

"You'll be fine. It'll be fine." Stiles reassures me as he begins pulling me by the soft grip he has on my hand.

"Stiles! Hi." A blonde girl whom I'm assuming is Stiles' nursery friend shouts from across the room.

As she begins to make her way over, Stiles shouts back a, "Hey! There's the birthday girl-"

I watch in horror as Stiles is cut off by the blonde girl smashing her lips onto his. My body freezes and my heart begins to pump out of my chest.

Despite Stiles staying loyal and pushing her away, I can't help the anger that builds up inside my chest at the sight of my Stiles kissing another girl.

"I thought you'd be happier to see me." She says in a sultry voice.

I finally can't take it anymore and step forward, catching her attention.
