☆A/N : This chapter contains cursing, brief mentions of vomit (near the end)☆
My hand gripped out the flashlight he needed to see in the gray-tinted darkness of the room. He held onto his camera in one hand and a strange device in the other, asking questions to what he thought was a spirit.
I didn't know why- I couldn't know why, but I felt as if I needed to protect him...
He was supposed to die either way, right?
I leant on my own weight as I continued to look down, Adam's voice wrapping around me like mist on a cold night.
"How did you die?" He paused, "Where are you from...?" Another pause, hoping it would answer. "What year were you born in? Are you lost?"
I started to giggle and snicker to myself quietly, my voice looping over and over again like a laugh track from an old movie. Adam turned to me, not noticing.
"What's so funny?" He stared.
"Nothing, it's just- It's kinda funny you're asking so many questions to a damn 'cat ghost'-"
"Okay, one : it's not a cat. And two : if you aren't going to be serious about this you might as well go sit in the car with Jonah."
"I am being serious-" I snickered between words, "I just think it's a little funny."
Adam sighed, his eyes drifting back to the hallway.
"Am I coming through?"
"Loud and clear." Adam looked down at his radio.
Adam continued to ask questions to it, pausing to give it a chance to respond, though it never did. I looked away, my focus being drawn to the walls of the home, the strangely cold air that passed through us like a ghost. I froze,
They were close.
Very close.
"Oh my God behind you!" It used Jonah's voice, coming through the radio, causing me to jump.
"Shut up." Adam rolled his eyes..
The radio went quiet, staticy and broken, but silent nonetheless. I stared at it, waiting for it to say something.
"You see anything on the cameras?"
"Oh my God behind you!"
"Dude, cut it out."
"Oh my God behind you!" It taunted him.
I felt a sigh come from me as I realized what it was trying to do.
Were they seriously trying to do this now?
"Dude, seriously, stop." Adam got more fed up with the voice.
"Oh my God behind you!- BEHIND YOU!- BEHIND YOU!" Its voice looped endlessly.
"Dude fucking quit!" Adam shouted.
"What the hell did I do?"
"Just- forget about it..." Adam looked away, now tense.
I sighed, anger in my fake breaths as I looked away, trying to ignore the painful, venomous feeling welling up inside me. I composed myself as best I could, trying to stay calm for his sake. I looked back to Adam, thoughts wrapping around my mind on how to go about all this.
How to go about stopping them.
Fragments of hours went by, passing quickly. I stayed by him the whole time, right by him, keeping close tabs on him, on where he was, if he was okay.
