The next day at school, Millie sat alone in the back of the class, chewing on her pencil as she thought of what to write. She heard footsteps approaching and looked up.
Before her stood Tony, who wore a friendly, though shy, expression.
"Hi, you're Millie, right?" he said nervously. "I'm Tony. I... don't think we've formally met before."
"Hey," Millie said. "What's up?"
"I'm pretty sure we live near to each other, and... I figured it was finally time to meet my neighbor," Tony said, fiddling with his hoodie's strings. "So... would you like to hang out or something after school?"
"And do what?"
"I dunno... Play video games? I'm new to this whole friend thing."
"Sounds fun enough.
Tony looked up, his eyes shining with excitement.
"So you'll come?"
Millie thought for a moment. Sure, she was worried that she may mess up and give away that she used to be the cat that he talked to, but she ultimately decided she didn't care. It was worth the risk for friendship.
A smile crossed Millie's face.
"Sure, why not."
