Thunder. Lightning. I couldn't see anything through the sheets of pouring rain which was coming out of the angry storm clouds. I told my parents I was scared. I have always had a fear of thunderstorms, this one being no better than the rest. A crackle of thunder and lightning caused me to jump before huddling into my seat in the back of the car. My parents tried to coax me out of being afraid, telling me that we would soon be home safely.
All of a sudden I heard my dad curse under his breath. Not only was I too afraid to ask what had or was about to happen, I didn't have time. There was only a moment to blink before I realized what was happening. Squeal. The tires were swerving off the road. Bang. The sound of a tire popping filled the air. Crash. Everything went black.
For the small moment of time in which I regained consciousness I could hear the sound of an ambulance quickly coming closer. At this point the wind which had been howling during the time that we crashed had died down and there were no longer strikes of lightning lighting the sky. I could hear my mom calling my name, I tried to move my head the slightest bit to look at her but a sharp pain shooting up my neck prevented me from doing so.
I was trying real hard to stay awake for my mom. My eyes were feeling heavy, and my hearing was becoming worse as I couldn't block out the pain, it was becoming the only thing my mind could focus on. Spots began gathering, "Please stay with us Lola, help is almost here, just a...." my moms voice was the last thing I heard before the darkness completely consumed my vision once more.
