Unknown P.O.V

I made my way into the hospital once more. The familiar scent of Clorox and sanitation products hit me. As I got my visitors pass I could feel a pair of eyes watching me. I turned and saw the woman at the front desk looking at me.

I was confused. Most people were used to seeing me here and I knew she had seen me here before. I finished what I was doing and walked over to the desk. I raised a brow at her.

"I just wanted to let you know, someone is now sharing your friend's room. You should have no problem with them though-".

Walking away, I cut her off. I was surprised as the entirety of the time Malcolm had been here he had never had a roommate. Surprising but true. Making my way down the familiar halls I reached the room. Walking in, I expected there to be people talking but I was surprised by the sight in front of me.

There was a girl who seemed to look around my age. She was laying with her eyes closed and made no movement to show that she knew I was here. She must be sleeping, I thought to myself. Good. I don't feel like talking to anyone, though that wasn't new for me.

I slipped around the curtain that was now drawn for privacy reasons and took in the sight in front of me. It was hard to believe it was really him. Malcolm was the strongest person I knew, and to see him like this was the most gut wrenching site I had seen since the accident itself.

Coming in today, I knew that he had been scheduled for a surgery early this morning but I had no idea it was going to affect him this much. He hadn't looked this.. Broken? Frail? Whichever way you look at it, he looked better last time I had seen him.

"Listen man, you better wake up soon. Daisy is devastated that you may not graduate with us unless you put some work into recovering and coming back to school." I swallowed back the lump that was forming in the throat as I spoke.

"Everyone misses you and is rooting for you. You should see the gifts people have been bringing to your locker. It's crazy.. You never really know how many people care until something happens I guess."

A knock on the door interrupted me before I could say anything else. Two parents walked into the room and I immediately knew they must be here for his roommate. Malcolm's parents lived far away and I knew that they had already visited this week.

I stood up to leave and glanced once more at Malcolm. Pull through this man. We need you.

Slowly coming around the corner to keep from startling the pair, I nodded as I slipped past. The girl's mom smiled at me with tears in her eyes. Seeing that, I was sure to make my way out of the room before anyone could say anything. I wasn't ready to see anyone's heartbroken family, anyone who wasn't there to visit Malcolm at least.

The visit lasted shorter than I was expecting but I didn't mind. Probably for the best. I had a lot of work to catch up on for school and decided to head home for the evening.
