         Feelings were strange, weren't they?

Well, at least to Emily they were. They always left her with so many wonders. What exactly were feelings?

At school, they had read a book about emotions, and Emily did enjoy it, but it still left her confused. The book said that people feel happy when something nice happens to them. It said people feel sad when something not nice happens to them, like how when Lucy, the book's main character, fell off her bike and got hurt. People feel scared when they see something they are afraid of, and people get angry when they hear or see something they dislike, like how Lucy's parents got when they heard she did badly on her test.

It wasn't just that, though, was it? Those weren't the only emotions people feel, right? If it was that, then why did her father cry, even when he wasn't hurt? If it was just that, then why did her mother smile, even when she wasn't happy? It seemed to make no sense to Emily, and that was why she finally spoke.

She had looked up to her teacher who was sitting beside her, helping her with her reading. She had gazed at the older woman with wide eyes, and with nothing but genuine curiosity as to why they did not explain everything well, she said, "this isn't really right."

Mrs Fallon had gazed at her, quite confused. With a pout, Emily looked back at the children's book. "It forgot to mention a lot of feelings. It didn't say people can be confused, but look! Me and you are confused right now!" she had exclaimed to her teacher, who then smiled.

"Maybe they didn't have space in the pages to write about that," the teacher had replied to her, and a Emily smiled. It was a good answer. She liked it. She didn't mention anything else after that. She just gave the book back to the teacher and set her wonders aside.

But as she stood there, beside her father, watching as the group of people further off in front of her took their places, she began to wonder again.

Do grownups feel the same way as me?

The set had been prepared, the lighting had been fixed, and all that was left was the director's cue to begin, and-

          "Action!"

There it was. The actors and actresses began to say their lines, emotion spilling out with their words. Emily watched them, her eyes wide in admiration.

Is faking emotions as easy as lying?

She looked up at her father, his arms crossed against his chest, leaning on the wall beside the building's entrance. They were standing in the far corner of the studio.

Does daddy Chris fake his feelings?

Christopher was looking at the celebrities with such admiration, just as his daughter was. However, the view was nothing new to him. He did work in the filming industry after all, and his job was mostly around those famous figures that people would usually only see in theatres or on television.
