I drove through a less inhabited part of Arkansas, still staying withing a couple miles of their base. Since I had to abandon my original camp, I had to find a new place to live and set up base, and I had a house in mind.

There was house on a hill somewhere up a dirt road and surrounded by barbed-wire fences. It was three stories, including the basement. it was up a hill and behind some mountains, meaning it mostly had protection from walkers.

Being mostly out of the way, it was safe from people too. It was a pretty big house too, which was nice.

After a fairly long drive, I arrived at the house where I'd set up my new base of operations.

I made my way to the front door, taking out my knife and Glock before slowly opening the door. After clearing the house, I made my way to the living room to unpack.

The house was three stories, there being a basement, 1st floor, and 2nd floor. It seemed to have been a fairly expensive house before the apocalypse. In the basement, there was a bar with one counter and a fridge behind it. It didn't have any drinks in it anymore, either the owners having taken them with them, or someone else took it. There was also a gun safe, it wasn't open, and I definitely couldn't open it without the key.

On the 1st floor, there was a kitchen, den, living room, bathroom, and dining room. There was a transitional space in the middle that was right in front of you once you came through the front door that lead to all the rooms, and the stairs leading to the basement.

The stairs leading to the 2nd floor were right outside the doorway leading to the living room. On the 2nd floor was two bedrooms, one a master that had a bigger bed, a balcony, and a bathroom connected to it. Across the hall was the next bedroom, which was considerably smaller than the master bedroom. Both the rooms were pretty messy, but otherwise untouched.

The house was far from being a home to me, not yet anyway. After unpacking my things and laying them out on the bed in the small bedroom on the second floor, I counted my supplies.

One Glock 19
One knife
Three Glock magazines
57 9mm bullets
A map of the county
And a compound bow with  6 arrows.

Not much, but enough to get done. I'd have to go out scavenging soon.

After unpacking, I went to the master bedroom and cleaned off the bed and got in. I fell asleep pretty quickly, and sank into the comfort of the bed.
