Rainy Day

Manjiro mentally cursed himself when he saw that he had forgotten his umbrella.

He pulled everything out of his backpack on the bench in the hallway, being sure that he had put the object in there before he left home.

How could he forget?

It was already raining when he left home and his mother gave him a ride to school. Even so, the blond was sure that before he left he put the pink umbrella in his backpack.

— I'm so dumb.

There was no way he could come home like that.

He calmly approached the hallway outside the school and already felt the incredibly cold wind hitting his pale skin and the splashes of rain wetting his clothes. His jacket had a hood, but it was raining so hard that he doubted that piece of cloth would be enough to protect him. His house was almost twenty minutes away. He would get there, at least, with hypothermia and probably a cold as well.

His immunity was terrible. Another reason not to dare to walk in the rain and wait inside the school until the weather calmed down.

His mother wouldn't be home from work until eight o'clock at night and it was four o'clock in the afternoon...

Yeah, he was fucked up.

The blonde sighed loudly. He had three school chores to do and if he had to wait for his mother to arrive...

— What are you doing standing there, Sano?

Manjiro was startled by the sudden voice in the hallway. Turning his body quickly, he found Ryuguji Ken, a "colleague", leaning against the main door with his eyes a little closed due to the wind.

Manjiro felt his skin tingle and he was sure it wasn't the cold.

He never talked to Ryuguji. He was a bit "afraid" of getting too close to the other blonde and it wasn't just because of the noticeable height difference between them. There were bad rumors about Ken.

In addition to making it very clear that he hated studying, some students said that he was too cold to care about anything or anyone. Manjiro didn't agree about students being too gossipy and spilling things they didn't even know were true. It was more because of Ken's extremely harsh appearance that caused it. He looked like a delinquent.

But maybe it was just his way.

He didn't follow the others' lead and got irritated when he heard the students talking about the taller blond man. But Ryuguji didn't seem to care what the others thought of him.

— I'm enjoying the rain. — he replied, stupidly.

— Enjoying the rain? — Ken raised one eyebrow and let out a weak chuckle. — It is practically a storm, in a little while a hurricane may appear too, and you tell me you are enjoying it? Did you know that a tree fell on my street and broke my neighbor's car?

Manjiro frowned slightly, finding the means of recounting an accident amusingly bizarre. Or maybe he was making fun of his previous answer.

— Huh... no?! To tell you the truth, I'm an idiot and I forgot my umbrella at home, that's all.

— That's all?

— Yeah, I'm too dumb. I left home and didn't even realize it, now I have to stay at school until my mom comes home from work to pick me up because I couldn't even walk back to my house.

— Hn... — Ken pulled one of the straps of his backpack off his shoulder, not taking long to pull out a black umbrella. He put his bag back on and opened the umbrella, which was noticeably large and fit his large figure perfectly. He walked, slowly, to the small figure of Manjiro. — I'll take you home.

— What? — the smaller blond stalled in place. He didn't even know if he had heard correctly.

— I said I'll take you home, Manjiro.

— That's not necessary, I can wait for my mother to arrive...

— Really? Your disgusted face tells me that waiting here is the last thing you want to do.

— That's true, but...

— You're very stubborn. — the tall boy quickly put one of his arms around Sano's shoulder, forcing his steps so that the short boy could follow without complaint.

He was still shocked by the boy's attitude, but he decided to shut up and let himself be dragged through the streets. He even felt comfortable and warm with his body practically stuck to the other blond's body.

On that rainy day, Sano Manjiro met a different Ryuguji Ken from what many students talked about in the school hallways.
