Chapter 2: The Show

"Are we there yet?" Happy groans while sitting on Natsu's head.

"No, now stop asking!" Lucy yells while clutching her head from the continuous askings.

"Well actually I think we've arrived," Gray says while scratching his head. His shirt now missing.

"Really!? Gray, where's your shirt!?" Lucy looked at the ice mage bewildered.

"Quiet down will you?" Erza says while looking at the giant yellow tent that was now in front of them. A huge line could be seen at the entrance where people filed in, buzzing with excitement.

"This place is huge!" Natsu's eyes sparkle as he looks at the outlandish tent.

"Let's hurry and get in line before it sells out!" Lucy yells while dragging her friends along with her. After buying their tickets they enter the tent to take their seats.

"Wow, it seems even bigger on the inside," Erza said while dragging her mountain of things behind her.

"Why did you bring all the luggage again? We're only a few hours away from the guild," Lucy sweat drops as she looks at how the mountain of things seems to block the view of the people behind them.

"A knight must always be prepared!"

"Well at least leave the stuff outside, we're blocking the view of the people behind us," Gray says as he puts on a new shirt.

"Fine, I'll ask one of the employees to watch the stuff so it's not stolen," Erza says as she leaves to put her stuff outside.

"So when is this party gonna start!?" Natsu impatiently tapped his foot while Happy flew off his head.

"Aye! I'm bored..." before Lucy could reprimand the two the lights went out.

"What in the-" Gray was cut off by a spot light being shone in the arena as fog seemed to cover the floor.

"Welcome ladies and gentlemen..." a feminine voice calls out as a person appears under the spotlight almost out of thin air.

"To the spectacular..." the person takes off their top hat revealing light brown hair with blue streaks mixed in.

"Lotus Circus!" The person takes a bow before righting themselves and placing their hat back on their head.

"For our first act you shall witness the juggle of death!" As the fog clears revealing a clown holding many dangerous objects the ring leader disappears once more. The group watched the act with great attention. Almost as if their eyes were drawn to this average circus act.

"It's odd, this is nothing out of the ordinary yet I can't seem to look away," Erza frowned as she watched the spectacle.

"BAHAHA THIS CLOWN IS HILARIOUS!" Natsu laughed loudly at the goofy clown not noticing his inability to look away. The group watched the show continue as many more acts went on. Yet only a few in the group noticed how they couldn't take their attention off the show. The others nearly thought the reason they couldn't look away was because they were entertained and invested by the show.

"Now for our last act..." the group's attention was brought back to the reappearing ring leader.

"The spectacular, fantastic,and amazing..."

"Ooo, what's next? What's next?" Happy asked excitedly.

"Elio the Fire Dancer!" The lights dimmed as a silk like rope seemed to unroll from the ceiling. A woman appears rolling down the rope dressed in a white and green acrobatics outfit. Green fire clinging to her as she swayed and danced with the rope and now a ring. The group's worry seemed to vanish as they were captivated by the show. Their attention no longer seeming forced.

"Woah, it's so pretty," Lucy gushes as she leans forward to see the beautiful dance up closer.

"I've never seen green fire before..." Gray adds

"I wonder if it tastes good?" Natsu says drooling slightly as he envisions a big fire dinner.

"Stop thinking with your stomach!" Erza spoke sternly yet didn't turn her head, too captivated by the sight before her. The act seemed to end too fast as the group had been so mesmerized that they didn't realize a long amount of time had passed.

"Now that's all folks! I hope to see you all again very soon!" The ring leader announced before dissolving into thin air. Everyone cheered yet the group sat stunned thinking about what had just occurred. Erza then stood suddenly.

"Let's go, we have a lot to discuss," everyone else stood to leave while Erza grabbed her mountain of items below.

"What a weird show,"

"Aye"

"Nice performance girls! A real show stopper!" The boss chuckles happily as he counts some of the cash the circus had made that day.

"Of course it was a show stopper, I'm good at my job ya know," Kasumi spoke smugly while taking her white mask off to reveal a slightly freckled face with hazel eyes.

"Don't get too cocky Kasumi, you know the only reason you're running this show is because of your magic," the boss snaps back. Kasumi avoids eye contact. I-I thought I was a good entertainer...

"Boss, we shouldn't celebrate so quickly. I could have sworn I saw wizards in the crowd," Vesta speaks up while wiping her brow with a towel.

"Ah, I'm sure they were just customers!" He says still overjoyed with the money made from this show.

"Boss, you were the one who was worried in the first place! Please focus here!" Vesta yells as she starts to get irritated.

"THAT'S ENOUGH BACK TALK FROM YOU! Kasumi's magic has never been found out before, so why would she all of a sudden be caught now! Plus she's tricked mages that we're probably a 1000 times stronger than the ones that were at our show," Vesta looks away from the money obsessed boss.

"B-but-"

"Not you too Kasumi! Weren't you the one who said not to worry in the first place!?" Kasumi goes silent.

"Now go clean yourselves up, you both smell," the two walk to the changing room, both deeply embarrassed and angry at how they were treated.

"I'm going out," Kasumi says quietly as she changes into a simple t-shirt, black shorts, and a black beanie covering her dyed hair. Before hurrying Out the door.

"Be safe," Vesta says in response, offering a weak smile before sitting on the changing room bench. Why did things have to turn out like this?
