The next time they train together, Jeno gets to the venue early. He's a total of 20 minutes early, but when he gets to the changing rooms Jaemin is already sitting there. He's not wearing his training outfit yet, instead he's wearing a simple white t-shirt and jeans. It's kind of crazy how good he looks. Jaemin doesn't notice Jeno has arrived at first because he's busy with his phone.
"Hi." Jeno greets softly. He sits down next to Jaemin on the bench and is mindful to leave enough space in between them.
Jaemin looks up from his phone. "Hi, look at this," He holds his phone screen out in front of Jeno's face. "This is one of last year's performances." Jeno doesn't miss the way he moves closer, close enough for their thighs to be pressed together.
Jeno looks at the performance. It's two people, just like them, wearing tight sparkly outfits as they float over the ice. They look beautiful. They look to be around their age.
"Wow." Jeno breathes.
"Yeah," Jaemin replies. "The one in white is Renjun and the one in black is Jisung," He adds softly. Their movements are so different from each other, and yet they fit together like puzzle pieces, one soft and graceful and the other hard and strong. "You look like them when you skate."
"That's not true." Jeno frowns. Jaemin puts his phone away and stares into Jeno's eyes with raw adoration. It scares Jeno a little, but he's not able to look away.
"You do though," He mumbles. He reaches out his hand and strokes Jeno's cheek softly. "You have the same expression they do, the same kind of passion," Jaemin presses his thumb against Jeno's bottom lip. "The kind that flows through your body, that you can see in your eyes," Jaemin says. He caresses Jeno's neck with his other hand, ever so softly. "You are as graceful as Renjun and as strong as Jisung."
Renjun and Jisung are world famous now. They're still a team, even after all this time. They are true icons, and Jaemin comparing Jeno to them feels a little too good to be true.
"I-" Jeno starts. "I don't know what to say." He finishes.
"You don't need to say anything," Jaemin smiles. "Let's get ready, Jen."
Jaemin stands up and pulls off his shirt.
"Right," Jeno clears his throat. "You're right."
Jaemin smiles to himself.
__"Alright, from the start." Jeno's coach says. He claps his hands together, a sign to start. "Put a little more detail in that spin, Jaemin, you need to spread your fingers and reach out to Jeno."
Jaemin does as told. He looks so fucking good like this, Jeno feels breathless.
"Good job, both of you!" Jaemin's coach says. "Now for the next segment, you'll be moving closer together. The music will get more dramatic, heavier, and you'll be doing the same with your movements."
The music starts up again and they both start moving. The next part is all about drama, all about moving closer together and melting into each other's movements. It's about yearning for each other.
"Good job!'' Jaemin's coach says. "Act like you need each other, alright, like you are both keeping the other alive."
Oh, Jeno loves to see the desperation playing across Jaemin's expression. It's one of the many things he loves about Jaemin when he's dancing — how expressive he is.
They move closer to each other until they are barely a breath apart, and Jeno is about to completely get lost in Jaemin's eyes if it weren't for the music cutting off abruptly. Their coaches clap.
