The Baby Project- Prologue

_____________________________________________________________________________________

I turned in my application for Barrington Academy a long time ago. Probably near a month. Supposedly, I'll get a letter in the mail telling me if I got in or not. So, every day after I come home from school, I look out the window waiting for the mail man to drop of the mail. When he puts it in the mailbox, I jump out of my seat and run to the door, hoping my acceptance letter will be in there. But, every day I am filled with disappointment. It's never there. The only thing in it is bills for my father and invites for something addressed to my mother.

Knock knock.

I got from my lonely seat by the window and walked to the door to see who it was. Looking through the peep hole, I saw that it was Nataliea.

I opened the door and she hopped in with a grin on her face.

"What's got you in such a great mood?" I asked.

"Did you get the letter yet?" Nataliea asked.

I shook my head and the grin fell off her face.

"Aww.. I'm sorry, Mia. It'll come soon, don't worry."

I sighed and forced a smile on my face. Hopefully the letter comes soon. If it doesn't I'll probably explode.

Both Nataliea and I heard footsteps, and my Yorkshire Terrier puppy, Lily started barking excitedly, hoping she'd have some company.

I picked up my small dog and she started licking my hands. Giggling, I opened the door to see the mail person walking to the mailbox. I passed Lily to Nataliea and ran out. When he reached the box, he noticed me and just gave it me. I smiled and waved before running back to the house.

I looked through the envelopes, and there it was. A letter from Barrington Academy.

My eyes widened and I waved it at Nataliea and bit my lip.

When she saw it she squealed, "Open it!"

I slowly eased it open and pulled out the letter.

Dear Ms. Hamilton,

We are pleased to inform you that you're application has been accepted. You will also receive an academic scholarship for such outstanding markings in your classes. You are invited for the second part of your admittance to Barrington Academy, an interview with Mrs. Willow Shaw, the student directer. Congratulations. We hope to see you next Tuesday for your interview.

Sincerely,

Willow Shaw

Student Director

I gasped then screamed.

"What happened? Did you get it?"

I couldn't say anything, I was so excited. So, I handed the letter to her. When she finished, she squealed too.

"Congrats! You did it, Mia!"

I grinned back at her but after realizing something, my smile faltered a bit.

"Technically, I'm only halfway in. I still have to do the interview."

"That's true. But, I know you'll make it. They'd be stupid if they didn't let you in."

I smiled. Hopefully she's right.

**Tuesday**

I was dressed in a simple blue dress, a white cardigan and black ballet flats.

"Honey, you'll do fine." My mother encouraged before I opened the door to Mrs. Shaw's office.

"Hello, you must be Mia Hamilton." A young woman with straight black hair and piercing blue eyes said.

"Umm... yes that's me." I said awkwardly and sat down in the chair across from her.

"Okay. I have one question to ask you. That's it. So, Ms. Hamilton, you only have one chance. Do you understand?"

I nodded then quickly said, "Yes, ma'am."

"Okay. I want to you to introduce yourself, say something about yourself, and then say why you think we should let you come to our school."

I nodded and started.

"Okay. My name is Mia Hamilton. I'm 16 years old. I'm from wales. I am an only child, which is rather unfortunate because I'm slightly lonely. I have a dog, she's Yorkshire Terrier. Her name is Lily.

Um.. I've been a straight A student practically my whole life. I am a really determined student. I really want to come to this school because it has so many academic opportunities. I want to get into a good med school, for I want to be a doctor.

Um... I volunteer at a hospital and occasionally at an animal shelter. Uhhh.... I guess that's it....Okay. I'm done."

Mrs. Shaw nodded and said, "Thank you Ms. Hamilton. We will get back to you soon."

I stood up, grabbing my purse from the side if my chair and said goodbye to Mrs. Shaw before leaving.

When my mother saw me, she jumped up and asked, "How was it?"

I shrugged. "It was nerve racking, definitely. Her eyes are so bright and scary that it looks like she can read into my soul."

My mum laughed and threw her arm around me, leading me back to our car.

**1 week later**

"Mia! You're letter has finally come in the mail." My dad said and threw the envelope on my lap.

I looked up from my boom and marked the page.

Dear Ms. Hamilton,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to Barrington Academy. We expect you're arrival by tomorrow morning at eight AM. Congratulations.

Sincerely,

Willow Shaw

Student Director

"Ahhhh! I got in! Dad, I got in!!!" I screamed.

My dad smiled at me and pulled me into a big hug

"Good job, kiddo!"

"What's going on in here? I heard screaming." My mom questions with a panicked expression on her face.

"She got into the school." My dad replied.

"Oh! Congrats baby!"

Okay so that was the prologue. I'm probably going to use all of the characters who didn't get casted as big roles, for extras.

So thank you for @xWallflowerTaking1Dxfor submitting Nataliea.

And thanks to @SixteenMoons for submitting the main character, Mia.

This beautiful cover is made by @mockingpow. Her covers are great!

Picture to the right it Nataliea ---->

Oh and I might use some of the other auditioned characters as best friends of the boys. So make sure to look out for that!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it!
