I went to stand up and head back upstairs to collect whatever I had with me. I needed to get home, so I figured I'd just call me and Lucia an Uber home. I didn't wanna bother the boys with the trouble of running us home, they'd already done so much for me. For the both of us really.
"Hey, I have a lot to do in regards to all this shit so...I feel like I should probably get home and at least make some phone calls. I already ordered an Uber, it should be here in about 15 minutes." I took a deep breath, setting my phone down on the counter and heading toward the stairs.
"One of us can take you guys home you know?" Jack spoke up, his third glass of orange juice in his hand.
"You guys have literally done so much for us in the past few days, don't even offer. I'm serious." I warned them. I didn't wanna dump all of my issues on them, and they definitely needed a break from us at this point. It was the least I could possibly do.
"Cancel the Uber, I'll go start the car." Corbyn put the last dish into the dishwasher, grabbing his keys and heading for the door before I even had the chance to rebuttal. I just huffed and shook my head. How was he such an angel?
I found my way back upstairs and collected my clothes from the night before, making sure I didn't leave anything behind although I didn't have much. As I was triple checking a knock rang through the open door.
"You don't have to knock on the door to your own room." I chuckled, glancing behind me as Corbyn leaned into the door frame.
"It's polite" He winked at me and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Not because I was annoyed, but because he was so smooth.
As I went back to making sure everything was grabbed, Corbyn made his way in and sat down at the foot of the bed.
"Hey.." He trailed off, almost like he needed to ask me something, so I paused and turned to face him.
"There's a uh...an award show tonight that we have to go to, and Jonah is downstairs asking Lucia if she wanted to be his plus one." I smiled, walking closer to the bed and sitting down next to him.
"Aw, I'm really glad. She's had her guard up forever. Plus, she needs this after worrying too much about me." I was genuinely so happy for her.
"I was wondering if you'd wanna come with me?" He couldn't look me in the eye, probably because he was still a little nervous, plus he knew how much I was dealing with.
"Are you serious?" I was stunned. I couldn't believe he was inviting me to something like this. Something was so different about him, and it felt like I'd been around him for ages.
"I wouldn't ask you something like that if I wasn't Kamri." He looked back up into my eyes, some of his confidence flooding back in at my initial response.
"Corbyn I really want to, but I have so much to do today and I don't wanna put a damper on the night. It's gonna be so much fun, and I dunno if I'm capable of having that good of a mindset right now." I felt horrible saying it, because I really did wanna be his plus one.
I wanted to go and spend the night all dressed up with him and the band. But I just knew I wouldn't be able to enjoy it, and a night like that deserves to be enjoyed. I wanted Lucia to go and enjoy herself, and same with the guys.
"No I get it..." He scratched the back of his neck, somewhat embarrassed. But there was nothing to be embarrassed about whatsoever.
"Hey" I grabbed his hand, making him retract his eyes back to mine. "You just made me feel so special asking me to go to something like that with you...like I wanna jump your bones okay? But, right now just isn't the right time." I let my head fall, feeling horrible that I couldn't go with him. But I also knew that he'd 100% understand me.
