CHAPTER FIFTEEN:
I shuffled in the uncomfortable position I was in. I felt a cool breeze blow on my skin. Although my eyes were closed, I could tell it was light or near light. I shuffled some more and I fell on something hard and cold.
'What the hell?!'
I rubbed my eyes with the back of my left hand, then I opened them to a bright light, which caused me to close them back again. After a few moments of blinking, my eyes finally adjusted to the light and I looked around, at my surroundings. I realised that I was on the balcony. I probably fell asleep while I was freely thinking, whilst I admired the beauty before my eyes. But that was only half as good as the one I could see right now.
It was past sunrise. Yet the sun was ever so slowly rising from my right, to reach the top and go back down again, at night.
I tried to stand up but I fell once again. After a few useless tries, I managed to get myself off the ground, by holding on to the railing. I stood up and my gaze fell upon the forest. It would be nice to go explore in there sometime.
I heard the door creak open and I turned around to see Hadrian walking into my room, from the glass door. He had a perplexed expression on his face and he was carrying a silver tray. The tray had a glass of water, some medication and a small bowl of fruits. I smiled at his sweet behaviour. He placed the tray down, on my small table, in the middle of the room. His gentle gaze then shifted to my un-slept in bed, where it turned even more confused and worried.
"Victoria?" He looked around the cool room.
"I'm behind you." I took a step closer to him and Hadrian turned to me, doing a 180 degrees turn.
He looked confused for another moment or two, but the he made his way forward, to the open balcony door. He held out his hand and I placed mine into his.
Another confused look crossed his face but this time he questioned, "Why is your room cold? More importantly, why are your hands so cold?"
I felt a sheepish look come across my face as I sheepishly said, "I fell asleep on the balcony last night, by mistake." The tone of my voice was very quiet but I am sure it was loud enough for Hadrian to hear me.
He sighed loudly for a dramatic effect, "That's not good for your leg," he took a deep breath, "What am I going to do with you?"
Still feeling very sheepish, I shrugged, "I don't know."
I bought my head higher to look at him shaking his head, side to side and closing the balcony door. He placed me on my bed, passing me the silver tray and pulling a chair closer to me and he sat across from me on the chair. He picked up a small device, from my bedside table and he pressed a button, and I could feel the room starting to warm up.
"You are very lucky that vampire medication is better than human medication," he told me, "otherwise your leg would have taken a couple of weeks to get better."
