As they got closer to the pit, Sophia asked a question which immediately gave away that she was nervous about the hole,
"Uh guys, are you sure it's safe to enter something that no one has ever seen before? Maybe we could go on the swings... Please?" Sophia explained.
"Why, are you scared that something bad is going to happen?" Maizie asked,
"Ya but says you, you get scared even if a little mud gets on your shoe! How is is any better than that?" Sophia replied angry. She hates being called a scaredy cat because she always looks on the very unlikely sides of things instead of looking on the bright side. "Just try it Sophia, it won't be as bad as it seems! I hope..." Jay yelled. Finally, they reached the hole and slowly but steadily stepped in.
"I don't feel very well either, maybe we shouldn't go in!" Maizie mumbled as she stepped in,
"Are we seriously still doing this? GET IN THE HOLE AND EVERYTHING WILL BE DONE AND OVER WITH!" Owen screamed in frustration as he pushed both Sophia and Maizie into the hole. Once everyone was finally in the hole ( mostly because of Owen pushing them into the hole in frustration, they heard a strange cracking noise beneath their feet!
"See, I totally called it that something like is creepy cracking noise was going to happen!" Sophia pointed out, "Score a point for Sophia!" She continued.
"Quiet down Sophia, we're trying to investigate where the noise is coming from and also, you were never that specific and never called anything!" Cameron bursted out. Just then, they heard another but louder and longer cracking sound and that made Cameron slowly back away. "Maybe this was a bad idea... We'll not yet because nothing bad has happened!" Cameron thought.
"Cameron, do you think something is under it, maybe causing this small crater? It seems like something's going on under it! Shouldn't we just leave it alone before one of us gets hurt? You already know that Maizie bruises easily!" Jay asked in a strange mood,
"I heard that Jay!" Maizie interrupted furiously
"Is nothing happening? Darn I was hoping that we'd get hurt!" Owen mumbled
"Did anyone notice that when we stepped in, the ground sank a lot and I mean A LOT! If it wasn't just me, I think there's trouble coming along!" Hannah asked
"I felt a little sinking but Hannah, even if we do fall in, it's not like we're going to get very far in! How harmful can a little crater do to hurt one of us. Plus, you play lacrosse too, that makes you really strong because you probably get cross-checked twice every game at least!" Cameron politely replied. CRUMBLE!
"What was that guys?" Cassy cried
"Cassy... I forgot you were here, why aren't you talking?" Justine asked
"I'm losing my voice, it's not like I can control it!" Cassy slowly answered. "Anyways, is anyone going to answer my question, WHAT WAS THAT REALLY CRUMBLING SOUND?"
" It was that rock that fell so we should start to back away, that hole actually looks deeper than I explained it to be," Cameron quickly yelled in a hurry. As they backed away, a rock close to one of the exits fell and that made them run to the other side as fast as they could. When almost all the rocks around the crater had fallen down into the hole, they decided to just take chances and dive over the last open area. Jay and Owen failed to complete the jump and had no choice but to fall in as it would easily happen anyways if they didn't "AH!" Jay and Owen screamed while jumping into the hole,
"Why did they jump on, they could have waited a few more seconds..." Sophia questioned,
"It wouldn't really matter because it's seconds that we're talking about here Sophia, not hours, minutes, or days!" Hannah answered in a lousy mood. Cassy wanted to ask what was up with Hannah but her voice was almost gone and she knew if she asked, Hannah would get angrier and that would give no benefit to anyone.
"Get out of this area! Get out of this crazy park!" Maizie shouted
"Yea, we noticed that our lives depended on it Maizie!" Cameron mumbled. As they ran further out of the park, the small crater that they saw at the very start had grown a lot and way spreading and heading towards them! Justine successfully dodged the first crack and thought that she was safe but the crack continued into the road and started circling everywhere!
"This thing won't stop! It's like an earthquake but a little bit smaller at this moment!" Cameron pointed out,
"Hurry and run like your life depends on it! Because it does!" Cassy joked.
"It's not the time for jokes Cassy... Justine watch out!" Maizie shouted. As the crack advanced to Justine, Sophia, Maizie, and Hannah, the crack opened up extremely wide and Justine fell suddenly.
"Justine! Oh no... We have to run and quickly!" Hannah explained
"We already did that and look where we are now!" Cassy interrupted
"Whoa! Guys, since we probably won't make it out of this, I want to say that... WHOA!" Sophia started but slipped and fell into the hole out of no where.
"We cannot escape so just run until you're stopped!" Hannah yelled, When they started to run, Hannah tripped over a rock stuck to the ground and couldn't get up fast enough which sent her flying down into the crack. Maizie, Cameron, and Cassy remained while running for their lives.
"I cannot live without Justine so I must jump in!" Maizie cried
"Really? Are your lives connected or something?" Cassy asked
"No, but I would feel like that!" Maizie replied
"Don't do it, there's no point because if you go down there, you could get injured or die! And you're not listening to me are you?" Cameron questioned Maizie,
"Nope, so see ya later I guess... Hopefully!" Maizie screamed. As she went to get ready, the crack opened up even further and Maizie fell before she planned but in her opinion, she wouldn't have to live a life of misery.
"Cassy, we're getting close to a phone box, should we call the ambulance?" Cameron asked
"Maybe, I forget the number for it though..." Cassy replied
"Seriously? It's something so easy! IT'S 9-1-1" Cameron explained
"Really? I thought that whole time that I was calling my grandfather..." Cassy answered kind of embarrassed after it slipped out of her mouth. All of the sudden, everything around the kids vanished before their eyes and were left standing on a small piece of asphalt balancing on a small dirt pile.
"I guess this is how we die..." Cameron whispered still scared
"I know, so sad! I imagined at I'd die in a car crash. Did you know that the most amount of deaths happen because of cars crashing together?" Cassy answered in a loud voice
"Shh! If you're to loud or move around to much, the piece of asphalt will fall and we'll be goners!" Cameron explained
"So? It's not like we can survive anyways," Cassy replied
"Well, let's just sit here until we FALL!" Cameron shouted as he was slipping off one side of the asphalt.
"CASSY! Go into the other side to balance it out so we can live a few more seconds!" Cameron quickly screamed. As Cassy ran to the other side, the asphalt piece flipped over and they fell over and landed in the hole. All that remained after it was a large and open area with a huge crater in the middle that caused everything. It was questionable as if something was causing everything to fall until the kids had fallen inside. Who did it though?
