Mom and dad were having a conversation. Kiri, me, Tuk and Lo'ak were eavesdropping on them.
They must be furious and it was partly our fault too.If I was careful enough to take care of my siblings then we wouldn't have been held captive and Spider, we couldn't bring him back.
Kiri signaled us to be quiet.I heard my mom shout, "You cannot ask this. This is our home"
"The people will die if we stay here. But I can keep my family safe, no matter where we go this family is our fortress" my dad was trying to console mom.
Our home, we're leaving. It was visible that Kiri was upset and Tuk sobbed but Lo'ak and I were silent.
The next morning we set out for our journey. We didn't know where we were headed to as neither dad nor mother spoke anything more than just telling us that we were leaving.
We flew for hours through a stormy weather and finally reached the coast.
There they were the reef people, The Metkayina clan.
We were greeted by surprised faces , seen more like a threat.
They must've been surprised by our sudden intrusion. As we landed, they started crowding us.
They were different than us, built for the ocean. They're skin were more greenish in colour, tails broader like the tails of a fish, they had tattoos engraved on their skin.
From the crowd two boys our age walked towards us.
Me and Lo'ak touched our forehead and did the I see you sign but they just stared at us with a smug on their faces.
The boy with a mole near his lips was inspecting us.
He smirked when he saw that I noticed and I just looked away.
A beautiful girl our age swam out and I saw that she smiled when Lo'ak looked at her. I elbowed him as he shyed away after looking at her.
Soon the Metkayina Olo'eyktan, Tonowari and Ronal his mate and Tsahìk of the Metkayina clan
walked towards Dad and they greeted each other and so did we.Ronal was wary of us while Tonowari didn't seem to mind too much about our family seeking Uturu.
My mom and Ronal had a bit of a beef but we stayed silent.
"From today onwards Toruk Makto and his family will be one of us .Treat them like your brothers and sisters they will be like babies learning to take their first breath so that they aren't shamed by the burden of being useless ."
Tonowari agreed for Uturu.
"My son, Ao'nung and my daughter Tsireya will teach your children what to do."
Ao'nung was the name of the boy who had the mole on his lips the one who snickered at us earlier he rather seemed annoyed.
"But father-"
"It has been decided" the leader spoke and he went silent, after that Tsireya, the girl who made Lo'ak shy decided to showed us our way to our tent.
We had a small family meeting in the hut. Tuk seemed upset and so was Kiri.
"And I want no trouble you got that ?" my dad looked at Lo'ak
"Yes sir" and I grabbed him by the neck and he bared his teeth to me.Later that day we went diving me, Lo'ak, Kiri, Tuk, Tsireya, Rotxo and Ao'nung.
Tsireya, Rotxo and Ao'nung looked majestic inside the water.
The way they swam and their eyes seemed to shine more. We couldn't hold our breath for long so we went up frequently gasping for breath.Kiri didn't seemed to have a problem with that.
After some time when we dipped our heads again into the water they all came up.
"Are you guys okay?" Tsireya asked
I could see that Lo'ak couldn't keep his eyes off her. When suddenly Ao'nung interrupted
"You are not good divers."
He looked towards me, his eyes seemed weird when he smirked I felt my heart jump a bit,"Maybe good at swinging through trees-" he looked away while Tsireya smacked him on the back of his head.
I decided to lighten up the mood
" Come on dude. We don't understand this finger talk" I smiled at them and he just stared at me and smiled foolishly after awhile.I think he likes staring at people or maybe he's just weirded out by us.
After a few more moments of diving we went back to our huts.
Although I have a gut feeling that Ao'nung doesn't like us much we need to try and get along.
