You had always been fascinated by the world of Team Fortress 2, and particularly by the game's many characters. So when you found out that there was an opportunity to actually join a team and play alongside the iconic mercenaries, you jumped at the chance.
As you made your way through the base, you couldn't help but feel a little nervous. After all, you were just a newcomer, and these guys had been fighting together for years. But then you caught sight of Soldier, and something about his confident swagger put you at ease.
"Hey there, recruit!" he called out, marching over to you. "I'm Soldier, and I'm gonna be your mentor. You ready to learn how to be a real soldier?"
You nodded, eager to impress him. He led you over to the training area, where he proceeded to put you through your paces. As you ran through drills and practiced your aim, he barked out orders and shouted encouragement, pushing you to be the best you could be.
It wasn't until the training session was over that you finally had a chance to catch your breath and really take in your surroundings. Soldier sat down beside you on a bench, lighting up a cigarette.
"You did pretty well out there," he said, blowing smoke into the air. "But don't get too cocky. This is a tough job, and there's no room for mistakes."
You nodded again, feeling a little intimidated by his gruff demeanor. But then he surprised you by cracking a grin.
"Of course, that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun, too. After all, what's the point of fighting if you're not enjoying yourself?"
You couldn't help but smile back at him, feeling a little more relaxed. And over the next few days, as you continued to train and fight alongside the rest of the team, you found yourself growing more and more attached to Soldier.
There was something about him that just drew you in - his unwavering confidence, his sense of humor, his fierce loyalty to his comrades. And even though he could be a bit rough around the edges, you couldn't help but find him incredibly attractive.
It wasn't until one night, when the two of you were sitting together in the base's common room, that you finally worked up the courage to tell him how you felt.
"Soldier," you said, your voice shaking a little. "I know this might sound crazy, but...I think I might be falling for you."
He looked up from the book he was reading, his eyes meeting yours. And for a moment, there was silence between you.
But then he grinned that familiar grin, the one that made your heart skip a beat.
"Well, that's just fantastic, recruit," he said, putting his arm around your shoulders. "Because I think I might be falling for you, too."
And with that, he leaned in and kissed you, his lips soft and warm against yours. And as you melted into his embrace, you knew that you had found your perfect match - not just as a teammate, but as a lover and a friend.
