The sun was setting over the battlefield as the RED team's Soldier sat on a crate, cleaning his weapons. He had just finished a brutal match against the BLU team, and the adrenaline was still pumping through his veins. As he polished his rocket launcher, he couldn't help but think about the new recruit who had joined their team earlier that week.

You.

Soldier had taken a liking to you right away. Your sharp wit and fearless attitude had impressed him, and he found himself drawn to your unique personality. He had even offered to show you the ropes around the base, eager to spend more time with you.

As he sat there, lost in thought, he heard a rustling behind him. Without hesitation, he spun around and aimed his weapon, only to find you standing there with a mischievous grin on your face.

"Relax, Soldier. It's just me," you said, holding up your hands in surrender.

Soldier let out a deep breath and lowered his rocket launcher. "You scared the hell outta me, maggot. What are you doing out here?"

"I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd take a walk and clear my head. What about you?"

"I finished cleaning my gear, and I was just thinking about the match. We really showed those BLU losers who's boss."

You chuckled. "Yeah, we kicked their butts. But you know, Soldier, I was thinking about something too."

Soldier raised an eyebrow. "Oh really? And what's that?"

"Well, I was thinking about how much I've enjoyed hanging out with you. You're funny, and you always know how to cheer me up when I'm feeling down."

Soldier felt a warm flush creep up his neck. He had never been one for emotional talks, but something about you made him feel comfortable. "Well, I'll be damned. I didn't know you felt that way, maggot. I gotta say, I feel the same."

You smiled, and the two of you fell into a comfortable silence, watching as the sun disappeared below the horizon. After a few minutes, Soldier stood up and gestured towards the base. "C'mon, let's head back. We can talk more there."

As you followed him back to the base, Soldier couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. Maybe, just maybe, there was something more between the two of you than just a friendship.

Over the next few weeks, Soldier and you spent more and more time together, bonding over your shared love of explosions and chaos. You trained together, played pranks on your teammates, and even shared some personal stories that you had never told anyone else.

One night, as you sat in the common room, watching a movie, Soldier turned to you and spoke up. "Hey, maggot. Can I ask you something?"

"Of course, Soldier. What's up?"

"Well, I was just wondering...have you ever thought about us as more than just friends?"

You felt your heart race as you looked at him. Was he really asking what you thought he was asking? "Um, well, yeah. Actually, I have."

Soldier grinned, and before you knew it, he had leaned in and kissed you. It was a clumsy, awkward kiss, but it was also sweet and full of promise.

For the next few weeks, you and Soldier started dating in secret, sneaking away for stolen kisses and private conversations. It was like something out of a dream, and you felt like the luckiest person in the world.

But then, everything changed.

One day, as you were walking through the base, you overheard two of your teammates talking in hushed tones. "Did you hear about Soldier?" one of them asked.

The other teammate replied, "Yeah, apparently he's been keeping a secret from all of us. Something about his past that he doesn't want to share."

Your mind raced with possibilities. What kind of secret could Soldier be hiding?

You decided to confront him about it that night. As you sat on the roof of the base, overlooking the battlefield, you broached the topic.

"Soldier, I overheard some of our teammates talking about you. They said you're keeping a secret. What's going on?"

Soldier hesitated before finally speaking. "You deserve to know the truth, maggot. I've been keeping this from you because I didn't want to scare you off, but I can't keep it a secret anymore."

He proceeded to tell you about his past, about how he had been part of a government experiment that had given him enhanced strength and agility. But the experiment had also left him with a dark secret. He had been programmed to follow orders blindly, no matter how dangerous or unethical they were.

Soldier was wracked with guilt over the things he had done in the past, and he was afraid that he would lose your respect and affection if you knew the truth.

You listened to his story with a heavy heart, unsure of how to react. On the one hand, you felt sympathy for Soldier and understood the weight of his burden. On the other hand, you couldn't help but feel betrayed that he had kept this from you.

As you sat in silence, Soldier spoke up again. "I know this changes things between us, maggot. If you want to end things between us, I understand. But please know that I care for you deeply, and I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

Tears prickled at the corners of your eyes as you looked at him. You realized that you still loved him, despite his past. "I'm not going anywhere, Soldier. We'll figure this out together."

And so, the two of you continued your relationship, albeit with a newfound understanding of the complexities of Soldier's past. It wasn't easy, but you both knew that you had each other's backs, no matter what.

In the end, it was Soldier's bravery and honesty that brought the two of you even closer together. And as you stood on the battlefield, side by side, you knew that you had found someone truly special in Soldier, someone who would always have your back, no matter what secrets he may be hiding.
