Chapter 4 [Weekend]

Back from school, I rushed to my bedroom and threw my backpack on the bed. The day I had been waiting for had finally come.

"Finally, it's the weekend!" I exclaimed, happiness filling my heart.

"Even though it's just two days, I will spend all my time doing something useful. Playing games day and night!"

Without wasting any time, I went downstairs to get some snacks.

"Hmm... I'll take this, this, and this. Oh, I forgot about a drink too," I said, opening the refrigerator.

"You seem happy, Nii-chan," my little brother, Ariki, who was watching TV, remarked. He has yellow eyes and black hair like me.

"Of course, it's the weekend, right?"

"And you want to spend this weekend inside your room playing games?"

"Yes, why?" I asked, sensing he was about to remind me of something I had forgotten.

"You said you would meet your friend this weekend."

"Huh? What do you mean by thaAAT!? Damn it! I forgot about that!" I said, my tone filled with stress.

Recess Time

"Naki-kun," Gotou-san called me. She seemed like she wanted to talk about something.

"W-what is it, Gotou-san?" I replied.

"Uhmm... My friends want to meet you!"

"Huh?"

'Did she just say her friends want to meet me? Maybe I heard it wrong.'

"What is it again, Gotou-san?"

"M-My friends want to meet you."

"A-Are y-you serious!?"

"Yes... So can we meet at the cafe this weekend... Huh? Kawasaki-kun, why did you turn into a statue!?"

I felt my body freeze. Why should it be me? Of all the people, why me?

"Kawasaki-kun!?"

I heard her scream my name, but I couldn't move, not even my mouth. I could just say no to her, but I didn't want to disappoint her.

"I-If you can't, I can just tell them," she said, showing me a sad face, like everything had ended.

"This weekend, right?"

"Huh?"

"T-This weekend, I will meet t-them."

Suddenly, she showed me a happy face. I didn't know what happened, but seeing her happy made me kind of happy too.

[Gotou's POV]

"Thank you, Kawasaki-kun," I bowed my head to him. I was grateful that I wouldn't disappoint my friends.

"I-It's nothing, seriously! S-Stop doing that."

Huh? He doesn't like it? What have I done!? He must hate me now! And that means my friends can't meet him now!

"Sorry, please don't hate me!"

"I don't mean to hate you, but I'm happy that you trust me as a friend. You even told your friends about me. T-Thank you, Gotou-san," Naki said with a smile.

Ring, Ring

"Looks like we need to go back to class now," he told me.

"Y-Yes, let's go."
