Neveah
I fidgeted with my new clothes, I had had to ask Alice, (seeing as she was the expert), for a new shirt and pants, my old ones were already pretty darn grubby. Instead, she had given me a full makeover. Even my hair had been combed out and curled properly.
Alice had given me a pin striped blue and white smock shirt along with a pair of black leggings and a matching blue cashmere jacket on top. She had even gotten me new white boots and a headband accessory in advance thanks to her foresight skills.
"How're you feeling," Carlisle asked, he stood next to me, perfectly calm as always, but his eyes were full of concern.
"Not too great," I admitted, it wasn't only the fact that the Volturi was coming to Forks just for me, but I was also back in the battlefield where this whole mess had started. Where after being attacked I was changed. Did Jane still look the same? I couldn't remember, my human memories were pretty sketchy. Far away and distant somehow, weird how you could get accustomed to different skills so quickly and think of it as the new normal.
I sensed Jasper slowly closing in, focusing on making me feel calm. I stopped fidgeting with my jacket and focused on breathing in and out while Jasper worked his magic.
"They just entered Forks," said Alice. The rest of the Cullens immediately rushed to my side, Jasper the closest, working as hard as possible to control my emotions. Even so I still felt a falling pit sensation underneath my heart as I heard footsteps slowly approaching.
They emerged from the forest moving at a fast pace, only slowing to a stop when they were about thirty feet away. For a moment, all was silent, then the figure in the middle slowly removed his hood.
"Carlisle," He reached his arms out in front of him. "My old friend." He spoke in a comical voice, but nothing about his looks read comical. He had mid-length dark brown hair, pale skin and ruby red eyes.
"That's Aro," Emmett whispered beneath his breath, loud enough so that the Volturi would only hear soft murmurs. "Behind him on the left is Caius and the right is Marcus. Jane and Alec are on the far left and Felix and Demetri on the far right." I watched as Carlisle walked forward to greet Aro. He held out his hand which Aro took, Aro's eyes swivelled upwards and he breathed in deeply, letting out a relaxing sigh.
"Aro can know every thought that has passed through your mind in one touch." Emmett explained. I barely listened, something else had caught my attention.
Behind Aro, on his left, Caius was glaring straight at me, his expression never changed, even when I met his gaze. Sensing what was going on, Jasper pulled me behind him, acting as if he was trying to get a better look at Carlisle and Aro.
"Dios de Salve, Maria," I whispered beneath my breath drawing a small crucifix sign on my thigh. As if on cue, Aro's attention snapped to me. I jolted backwards, shocked by his sudden movements.
"I would like to meet her," he said. Carlisle turned around slowly, looking at me, looking at everyone's face, all except one... Alice.
I turned, her expression was one of shock, eyebrows knitted with confusion and nostrils flared with disbelief.
"Alice...?" I asked. She didn't break out of her vision, nor did she acknowledge me.
"Neveah," I turned back, wide-eyed with worry. Carlisle gestured for me to come. I walked forward slowly, glancing back at the Cullens and at the east end trees, willing for myself to wake up in my cosy room in Tristan's home.
I stayed stubbornly in the battlefield, soon next to Carlisle who held me tightly around my shoulders, guiding me forward... guiding me to my doom.
Aro held out his hand, I copied Carisle's movements from before, gently lowering this tips of my fingers into contact with his palm. His hand clamped over my fingers, suddenly jerking me forward and sandwiching my hand between his palms. His eye discourses, a peculiar sucking feeling has appeared in my fingers and my head, every thought, even ones that I barely remembered spoke out loud in my head, in my voice.
