Ch. 1 ~ a Dreamer and his Dream

~At the Cafeteria~

"Hey, bro! Why do you look so serious?"

Pierre Naravit's voice snapped Doby out of his deep focus on his phone screen.

"Oh, Pierre!"

Doby responded, slightly startled. Pierre leaned in curiously.

"Who’s that guy you’re looking at?"

Doby hesitated for a moment before replying.

"Do you remember when we performed in that play for our drama club?"

Pierre eyebrows lifted, trying to recall.

"Oh… yeah, I remember! Why?"

Without another word, Doby turned his phone around, showing Pierre the screen.

"I want to be like him"

Doby said, his voice is full of admiration.

Pierre's eyes widened in surprise as he blurted out.

"Huh? What? You want to be an actor? Since when? How did this happen? And more importantly, why?"

He could hardly wrap his head around his best friend’s unexpected confession.
Doby, on the other hand, was beaming with excitement, his enthusiasm radiating off him. His mind was already racing with possibilities, imagining a future where he stood in the spotlight.

"Our teacher suggested a particular series for me to watch as a reference for improving my acting skills,"

Doby explained, sounds more of excited.

"Curious to see what I could learn, I decided to give it a try. As I watched, there was one actor who immediately stood out to me. His performance caught me, so full of depth and authenticity, that I couldn't take my eyes off him. Every expression, every movement felt so natural, as if he truly became the character he was portraying. The more I watched, the more I found myself admiring his talent, appreciating the way he brought his roles to life with such passion and precision. But what truly left a lasting impression on me was the love and support he received from his fans. They weren’t just passive viewers, they genuinely admired his craft, celebrated his achievements, and stood by him through every performance. Seeing that kind of appreciation made me realize the influence of him and how a single performance could inspire and touch so many lives."

Doby leaned back, his eyes were full of excitement as he found something he could look forward to.

“That’s when it all clicked for me,”

he said, his voice is very happy.

“Imagine what it must be like to have people look up to you, to be admired not just by friends or family but by complete strangers, people who are drawn to you simply because of your passion. The idea of doing something you truly love, putting your heart into it, and having others appreciate and support you for it… Doesn’t that sound great? To have fans, to share your joy with the world, and to have fun every step of the way, what could possibly be more fulfilling than that?”

He couldn't stop smiling, He already saw himself on the grand stage, basking in the applause of an adoring audience.

"I get what you're saying, and I’m not trying to judge you, okay? But based on your personality, don’t take this the wrong way, bro, I just don’t think you can handle the pressure and demands of the entertainment industry. You don’t even like going out on weekends, and you always prefer that I come over to your place instead of going out. And now, all of a sudden, you’re telling me that you want to be an actor?

Pierre knew Doby very well, so when he saw the smile on his friend’s face, he immediately felt uneasy.

"I have you!"

Doby said with a sly grin. Pierre raised an eyebrow, already sensing trouble.

"Huh? Me? What do you mean by that? What about me?"

Doby's grin widened as he clapped his hands together excitedly.

"We’re going to audition for JNN!"

He spoke with a pleading look, his eyes twinkling with excitement. Pierre’s face fell instantly. He took a step back, shaking his head firmly.

"No! No way! I’m out. I don’t want any part of this. I just want a simple life, world peace and all that."

Pierre had never liked being the center of attention. The idea of standing in front of an audience, having all eyes on him, made him uncomfortable. He preferred to stay in the background, unnoticed and at peace.

But Doby wasn’t ready to give up. He leaned back, a dreamy expression on his face, eyes glowing with determination.

"That’s when it hit me,"

He said very excited.

"How does it feel to be admired by so many people? To have complete strangers cheer for you, just because of something you love doing? Imagine that! Performing, having fun, gaining fans, doing what you love while people appreciate and support you. Isn’t that amazing? What could be better than that?"

Pierre sighed, feeling the weight of Doby’s words. He understood his friend’s passion, but was this really something he wanted to be part of?

"I know you love dancing, bro! You could even become a dancer if that's what you want. If acting isn’t your thing, that’s totally fine. But please, come with me on the audition day! I really don’t want to go alone, I’d feel much better if you were there to support me. Let’s just give it a try together. If we don’t pass, then we won’t go to any other auditions. What do you say? Will you come with me?"

Pierre knew that with a name like Dobyson, his best friend was someone who always did whatever he wanted. No matter what Pierre said, he couldn’t stop him. And now, once again, he finds himself being dragged along because of Dobyson’s stubbornness.

“Alright, alright. But after this audition, no more, okay, Dobyson?”

Pierre said, hoping his friend would keep his word this time.

“I promise! Thank you so much, P’Pierre!”

Dobyson replied with a wide grin, using a playful tone.

Pierre let out a sigh. He was so tired of dealing with his best friend’s playful tricks. Even though Dobyson was technically younger by just a month, he always acted like the younger one, making Pierre feel like the responsible older brother.

“You’re such a silly boy,”

Pierre muttered with a small smile. He reached out and gently patted Dobyson’s head, amused yet fond of his best friend’s playful nature.
