after you left, law lingered at the alley for a little bit. he watched the moonlight sky, right after the mysterious girl's disappearance, as if partially expecting her to reappear. but she didn't, and he was left with penguin, bepo, and the quiet night silence.

truth be told, he was curious; curious about her abilities, her power, and who she was. he was intrigued; never had he ever before seen anyone use anything like that.

runes; was she an alchemist? a witch? someTHING? not human?

all the vendors had hurriedly left after the commotion, and the night was still. peaceful, even, as he gazed down at his wallet. opening it, he came to the realization that you didn't take a single berry despite the claim that you'd taken half the money inside.

he frowned. why did you lie? about such a lesser thing, no less.
didn't you know he could just check it after?
what was truly your goal?

brushing it off, he turned to his two crewmates and watched them visibly relax at their captain's guard lowering. "bepo, penguin, head back to the sub. let's call it a night."

yet, as he walked back to the sub with two merry crewmates, he still wasn't any closer to understanding your motivates than he was when you first took off, nor who you were. all he had was a lingering feeling that he'd seen your face somewhere before, and a burning curiosity.

what did you want from him?

sighing, law looked back up at the sky. the clouds had shifted, moving to cover the moon and cast a veil of dull light down at him. he shook his head, picking up the pace towards his submarine and crewmates.

"i just hope that nightmare of a woman doesn't return," he sighed. no matter how curious he was, curiosity killed the cat. he wasn't about to walk into danger. "she gives me a headache."

and so he kept walking, blissfully unaware of the small, blinking device you'd stuck onto him right after swiping his wallet.

unlike the captain who spent the night in his submarine, peacefully grinding the night away at paperwork, you sat on the window sill of your temporarily rented apartment, staring at the recon device settled in the palm of your hand.

you watched the small, blinking light on the screen. it symbolized the pirate captain's location; near the dock of the small island.

you closed your eyes, feeling the wind on your face and hearing the clock's hands tick. you wonder if you'd get to fight him fully again, one day. and you knew that you'd go see the man before they left the harbor, too.

grinning, your body felt thrills and chills across your jaw and down your back and sides at the prospect of fighting a pirate with a possibly- high bounty. whether or not it was truly high, you had no idea whatsoever.

slipping off the windowsill, you laid back on your bed. the mattress was hard, and grated against your back, but you never bothered to put blankets on the bed or over yourself. you wouldn't be staying long here, anyway.

after all.. you had plans.

the following morning, right before dawn and long before the sun would come to welcome the world, you skipped breakfast and made your down to where the red dot was blinking last night. it was long gone now, and you assumed he had wandered back into town for more supplies before setting sail.
