"We're just friends," they said.

I'm not a fool.

I see the glances he sends her and the tints of red on his cheeks. Averting his eyes away, he thought of those words that snaps him back to reality, 'I have a hopeless crush on someone I have no chance with.'

I see the tinges of jealousy on his face when she talks to another. He will silently walk away from the talking duo not with anger written on his face but fear visible from head to toe. Paleness swallowing him as a whole and in his heart, there stirs a quiet pain, 'I can't lose you, especially not now.'

I see how he notices every single detail of her, no matter how small, and when she does something for him, I could see the hints of pleasure on his face. He would let out a small smile like a little child waiting for candy from his monotonous face.

On the days when they were apart he would write and write, just to try and get her off his mind. He tries to forget her by telling himself that he doesn't miss her and doesn't love her, hoping he'll believe it.

But his heart tells him otherwise.

He was stupid for hiding away his emotions behind a wall of denial. He hid those feelings away, only to fall for her more every single day.

The first note he left on her table read:

Dear whoever is reading this,

You have no idea how much I love you.
How much you make me smile.
How much I love talking to you.
Or how much I wish you were mine.

You are the angel from my dreams.
My salvation from my nightmares.
Like the moon and the stars present in the night sky.
I will love you until the day I die.

I will love you even if nobody wants to.

Love,
If only I could tell you who I am

He silently watched her as her faces lightens up like a lightbulb and turned as red as a tomato.

For the first time, he felt a surge of happiness. A feeling he have not felt in a long time, it almost seemed foreign to him. He hoped she felt the same way as he did for her.

He just have to hope.

Sure he can't call her his girlfriend yet but for now maybe, just maybe. He could call her his.
